| Dear Friends, I inaugurate the nominations for 2008 with our Grand Old Man's post happy birthday cheeniya sri... At 65, he is modest to address the ILites thus Entharo mahanubhavulu antiriki vandhanamu! I loved the modesty revealed in his reply and want you all to read it. Love, Chithra. |

| Hi All, I'd like to nominate Soaring Spirit's thread Does financial independence alone help us chart our own course? for the FP of the month. I loved the way she wrote..so realistic and pragmatic and an absolute true portrayal of how girls in India are brought up...which in turn influences their behavior and thinking in later years. An eye opener for several of us... love, Aarushi

| Ladies, I would like to nominate Subbutr's " Life as I see it " . Nicely worded, makes one introspect and digest the small tips that are given. Even if we were to heed a little of what he has written, it should make a big difference to our lives. Vandhana |

| Mrs ChitVish, Thank you for starting 2008 nominations with a modest yet meaningful post by IL's 'mahan' Cheeniyasir. I am sure it is a must read. regards Vidya24 Quote:

| Dear Aarushi, Very happy to see you here with a splendid nomination. Soaringspirit makes our hopes and spirits soar and fly freely with her post. I loved the whole piece, two parts stand especially in mind. When she says that we need to inculcate 'emotional independence' and later that ' we should command a happy life rather than hope for one'- Soaringspirit has rightly identified the mindset that present and future generations of women need to garner. I knew that I could expect such a nomination from you since you yourself are one of the 'complete' women- a mother, wife, career woman and a thinking spirit. Thanks,Aarushi and we hope to see you here often. regards Vidya |

| Hello Vandhana, Thank you for nominating an instructive post by Subbutr.' Life as I see it' teaches us what matters and what matters most. Subbutr tells us rightly that employment to which many attribute most value, is a rubber ball that will bounce back. Many of us do not take family, health, friends and especially spirit to be fragile. We assume that they will all be there standing for us long after we are done ignoring them. Subbutr teaches us otherwise. Thanks again, Vandhana for nominating a post that makes much sense and has a valuable lesson of life. regards Vidya |

| Dear Kamla and Vidya, I am pleased to nominate Kripasankari's reply to my new year wishes thread. Here's the link An Accountant's Thoughts On the New Year! The short post set me thinking. The post talks about the role of a mom, especially with reference to a single child. And it also talks about the role a wife and a daughter in a man's life, especially when he is praised by his parents and others. Regards,
