Re: happy birthday cheenya sri... Dear Cheeniya Sir, Many Many Happy Returns of the Day!!! I wish you great year ahead with good health.
Entharo mahanubhavulu antiriki vandhanamu! Old habits die hard! During the quarter century of my association with State Bank, I have addressed numerous gatherings and I always started my speech with the words ‘At the outset’. And so shall I begin now! At the outset, I wish to express my gratitude to all my dear ILites who have sent their loving greetings on my 65th Birthday. I am touched by this show of affection which will surely add years, meaningful years, to my life. Having said that (at the outset!), I would love to share my thoughts with you on celebration of birthdays. If you take any facet of human life and plot it as a graph from the juvenile to the senile stage, the result will be an inverted parabola. An incredibly steep climb, a plateau and a steep fall invariably mark the life pattern of a human being. When the climb stops and the fall starts and how long the plateau lasts are all subjective. All celebrations of a human life during the upward movement may signify important landmarks while those of the downward movement are more of a thanksgiving by those who are benefited by him. My little grand daughter celebrated her 5th birthday in November. She was talking about it almost three months in advance! I looked forward to 27th December with the same kind of enthusiasm till I was about 10 but now it is just another day! That’s how anyone who has crossed that day 65 times is bound to feel. Not only birthday but any activity is bound to lose its novelty in the long run. Birthdays make me remorseful these days. I keep asking myself if I had done anything at all by which I would be remembered even by a handful of people. When youngsters fall at my feet and seek my blessings, I feel small that I have nothing to merit that obeisance except my age! It makes me laugh that people at ripe old age become objects of reverence even if they had wasted their entire life in useless activities. If someone makes me an offer like Puru did to Yayathi for swapping his youth with his father's old age, my answer would be a polite and firm no. I am no different from Yayathi who used up his restored youth in pursuing only worldly pleasures! I have no desire to repeat the follies of my youth! Birthdays make me intensely introspective and birthday wishes make me feel guilty of a wasted life! Sri
DEAR CHEENIYA SIR, MAY THE DIVINE POWER BLESS YOU WITH GOOD HEALTH, LONG LIFE, PROSPERITY, PEACE AND WISDOM HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU .arty :birthday:birthday:birthday:birthday:birthday REGARDS PADMA
