    Hello Ladies,

I was diagnosed with PCOD when I was 18 (9 yeas back). The doctor told me what that implies - problems with fertility, etc. It had scared me so much then, because of lack of knowledge that I assumed I would never have a child. I used to cry my heart out, coz i love kids.

It's been coming and going throughout the last 10 years. Of late, when I went to my gynaec, both doctors (very experienced) said not to worry AT ALL. Almost 50% of women have it these days and they asked me to visit them when I am planning a baby. Seeing their confidence, it gave me some hope and happiness.

My question is, how is it that so many women have it these days? Is stress a big factor? Was there no stress back in the days of our grandmothers and all.

Back then also, there were family related problems, financial problems, some had nutrition issues coz of poverty, no formal knowledge on exercise, no medications, but *everyone* seemed to have a host of kids...I have been wondering what the real reason is? Or has it always been around even back then and now it has a name??

    Regards,
    F

    Some differences are

We have many gadgets to make our work easy like servant , washing machine , vacuum, vehicles etc etc where else in old days all used to do work in traditional manners .. we workout in gym or home for just one hour per day...we usually select some easy way to get our work done , But they did their work for entire day without any servant for help ... Do you thing we are doing more exercise as compare to them????

They eat more healthy food ... we eat more junk food ... Even vegetables grown in in olden days were natural, Can you say vegetables grown now are really good???

Olden days people used to relay on natural Ayurveda things not any chemically based things .... we all know natural treatment is much better than tablets ...that time was not as polluted as now... Can you compare medicine with any ayurvedic thing???

They used to sleep early and get up early ... is it same thing now???

Its so much more common now because of our life style changes and food habits. In our current busy lifestyle we hardy find time to exercise and eat lot of junk food. We should reduce carbohydrate intake and try to reduce aatleast 5-10% of our weight which will bring down the symptoms of PCOS.
I also suffer from PCOS and now I am pregnant. So for sure we can conceive with PCOS, With an active life style and healthy food habits we can control PCOS. :)

I too diagonised with PCOS 2 years before. I also worried tht I can't have child. But now I had a beautiful child of 4month.So no need to worry about tht. But reason for Pcos may be life style change and food habit.Nw days more hybrid foods, pesticides etc.I think due to this hormones are imblanced and go these type of probs.

    Hi All,
i was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years back, was worried to death that i would nt have children. but my gynaecologist was an angel.
Few things she told me to follow - check the Glycemic index of the food that you eat. the lower teh GI, the better.
Do not control if u want to urinate. just find the closest possible loo.
Do not cross your legs when u sit or sleep.

    just my 2 cents.
