Sweet Whole Moong Sundal is a sweet version of Sundal with Jaggery.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Whole moong – 1 cup
  • Jaggery – ¾ cup
  • Freshly grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tsp
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
PREPARATION METHOD:
  1. Lightly roast moong & soak for 4-6 hrs.
  2. Wash & boil in just enough water till soft.
  3. Drain the excess water, add jaggery & boil.
    This is done so that the drained moong water is not wasted.
  4. Strain & boil again till it turns syrupy.
  5. Add the cooked moong & simmer till blended.
  6. Add cardamom powder & Coconut.
  7. Remove, add ghee & mix well.
NOTES AND TIPS:
  • Whole moong is called muzu pachai payaru in Tamil.
  • The same sundal can be made with black eyed peas ( vellai karamani & sivappu karamani). It will be equally delicious.
