Learn how to make Dal Fry quickly with this recipe.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Masoor dal (pink variety) – 4 tablespoon
  • Moong dal (yellow variety) – 1 tablespoon
  • Green chillies – 2, slit
  • Ginger – 1 “, finely chopped
  • Garlic – 4,5 finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt, haldi
  • To temper: – Ghee – 1 tablespoon ( or oil)
  • Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Kalonji (onion seeds) or Jeera – ½ teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Onion – 1, very finely chopped
  • Tomato – 1, very finely chopped
  • To garnish: – Chopped coriander
PREPARATION METHOD:
  1. Wash and soak the dals together for an hour.
  2. Cook with twice the volume of water, haldi, green chilli, ginger, garlic and salt in a pressure pan till tender.
  3. Throw away the green chillies and whisk the dal till smooth.
  4. In a kadai, temper as given in the order till well blended.
  5. Add dhals, mix and simmer to boil.
  6. Serve hot with coriander leaves.
  7. A knob of butter gives a rich taste.
  8. Goes well with rice and rotis.
