Cards have always been a way of expressing our innermost feelings to people who matter. What more personalized and beautiful than doing it with creative and lovely handmade cards? The card makers of today sure know how to put together technology and creativity to bring out the very best.

Here is a talented IT specialist who has turned her love for crafts into a business that lets her indulge in the world of emotions, embellishments and sentiments. Bhawana Singh from Bangalore, a gifted card maker, is in conversation with Vandana Rajesh.

How would you like to describe yourself?

Currently I am a stay-at-home mother for a 2.5 years old toddler. I am an MCA from JNU in New Delhi, and worked in IBM for 4 years followed by Oracle for 1.5 years. When I conceived, I decided to take a break from my job, and since have been a full time stay-at-home mom to my little one. Meanwhile I started a food blog and the last few months has seen the interest in crafts taking over.

I do believe in ‘live as if tomorrow never comes’ and I abide by this. I try hard not to waste a single second.

From the corporate sector to card making and crafts, how did the long and creative journey happen?

I feel it is a very funny and loving story. Ours is a love marriage and we exchanged a lot of gifts in the past. Since I am not working now, I have not gifted anything to my husband for the past three years. He is my greatest inspiration, however, buying things with his money did not seem a great idea to me. Then, the idea of making a few cards for his birthday struck. I invested some money in buying craft material, researched online and learnt some crafting techniques. I made seven cards in 28 days. I can proudly say that all seven cards used seven different techniques and were quite nice. Since then I am into crafting. I have also won four crafting challenges.
