Expanding Your Network and Developing Connections with Resource Professionals

At this stage, you need to expand your network of known people and professionals, such as caterers, florists, disk jockeys, comedians, musicians, art professionals and cartoonists. These professionals are needed at various functions. Like, from your previous job, you may know people whose rates are affordable and can work with you.

You should contact them and maintain cordial relations with them. Also search for other affordable professionals through the internet and newspaper advertisements. Then you have your own team of people who are professionals like caterers, florists, decorators, DJs and other entertainers.

Work Space And Materials

You need a room in your house which you can dedicate to your work or if a room is not possible then at least a work area in your bedroom with a work table, computer with a high speed internet connection for communicating with the clients, a telephone, a cell phone, a printer, scanner and a fax machine.

You should also consider making your portfolio of work done and projects worked on. You can create new themes and put them in a file and then in a journal with a rate card.

At this level you can also take the responsibility of managing events of your friends and relatives like birthday parties and wedding anniversaries where you can take pictures of all the arrangements made by you and then put them in your portfolio.

Also, you can print a few leaflets and distribute them to promote your work. Put your advertisements in the newspapers, internet and magazines.

Starting Your Own Business

By this stage you have your own team of professionals, portfolio and advertisements. This means a lot. You have given a high kick to your career.

Also do ask your friends if any of their acquaintances are conducting any events so that you can kickstart your work from there.

With advertisements of this kind regarding the services offered, clients will start contacting you. Don’t worry, work is plenty in this career. There are many people who lack the time, capacity and network for arranging events, so they hire an event manager who organizes the event for the client at their budget with affordable rates.

Dealing with The Clients

The customer is king and always right here. If the client finds something in your work that is not satisfactory or does not suit their requirements, it is required that you make the suitable arrangement to arrange things according to their needs. Be patient and cordial with the clients, they will appreciate it.

This career has a lot of potential for flextime work and especially for the stay-at-home mothers and housewives.
