Was this initially your venture and then your husband joined in later?

My husband, Aloke Biswas was making aircrafts for Indian Defence at that time. After, I organized a couple of concerts successfully, he decided to leave his engineering profession and take Maam Entertainment forward to provide smiles to people.

How has the journey so far been?

It has been challenging and tough going, but a pleasant learning process, especially because we have come to know so many persons, celebrities and non-celebrities, alike.  We love mixing with all, irrespective of their status, caste or creed. We are inspired by each and every person we meet in our journey.

What were the challenges that you faced in particular in the initial years?

Yes, it’s a constant challenge right from the first event till now. We believe, we have to live with it as long as we can remain in this field. It’s part of our life now. Yes, you are right, it’s about convincing companies to join hands with us, and support our efforts. So far, it has been satisfactory.

Any advice you would like to share with our readers, women in particular who would like to take a plunge in setting up a venture in the entertainment sector in particular?

If your heart says you want to entertain people, at whatever cost in terms of time and money, it may be, then go ahead and do so. The golden mantra for success is never compromise on quality; give them the best you can.

A glimpse into some of the upcoming events will give readers an insight into how Arundhuti and Aloke Biswas’s dream of bringing wholesome good entrainment has blossomed over the years.

The forthcoming events include Bollywood Jazz and Brass, a theme based concert on the influence and impact of Jazz on Bollywood music, ever since it reached the shores of Bombay in 1930s.  A two-hour programme will feature evergreen songs on the aforementioned theme from 50s till present times. Some of the performers include names like Babloo Mukherjee, Biju Nair and Richa.

Another programme in the offing is the popular and iconic Feroz Abbas Khan play, Tumhari Amrita, whose cast includes stalwarts like Shabana Azmi and Farooq Sheikh. For those not in the know, the play Tumhari Amrita completes 20 years of being performed across different destinations across the world.  It is a poignant love story told through letters spanning a period of 35 years.  The play is a lyrical journey in time and space, which chronicles the lives of two very different people who cannot live with or without each other.

Here’s wishing Arundhati a wonderful future ahead, from the team at IndusLadies.
