Health Trouble for MothersĀ

The anaesthesia, given to the spine of the mother during a c-section, will affect the mother for many years after the birthing process is over. It will become quite troublesome for her to carry a child, or even any other heavy objects. Also, a normal birth reduces the risks of blood clots and haemorrhage to the new mother.

Delayed First Feed

Post a c- section operation, the mother is usually under sedatives. Because of this, the first feed to the baby often gets delayed, and many hospitals make up for it by giving the child formula feed. This is not the case after a vaginal birth, and hence is definitely beneficial for the child.

Faster Recovery for Mother

Post birth recovery is faster for a normal delivery. For a mother, who delivers via the natural route, she can walk, carry her baby, begin house work, and get back to the normal daily routine soon after birth. This includes driving a car too.

Risk of Hernia

For women going through multiple caesarean operations, with each surgery not only do the abdominal muscles weaken, and there are chances of developing hernias at a later life, but the fertility also gets adversely affected. This is avoided under cases of normal delivery.

Having said this, sometimes a c-section operation is unavoidable because of various complications during pregnancy. So, as a would-be mother, do consult your gynaecologist and take the decision that is best for you and your child.
