Changes in Your Body at Week 32

Your baby is rapidly growing as you finish 31 weeks of pregnancy and inch your way closer to the due date. Your blood volume has also increased up to 50%. So it is natural for you too see a considerable weight gain.

Some of the pregnancy symptoms continue into this stage as well.

  • Breast leakage
  • Fatigue
  • Nose bleeds
  • Varicose veins
  • Back pains
  • Leg cramps

Your Baby’s Development at Week 32

The baby will move towards the pelvis and is preparing for birth. Most turn to the head down position.

As you step into the 33rd week of your pregnancy soon, you may notice that the baby is calmer now and the kicks are lesser. This is because with the growth there is less space inside the womb for him or her to move about.

Your baby has developed its own sleeping pattern and would be sleeping for stretches of 20 to 40 minutes.

The umbilical cord is protected by a gelatinous substance. This is to protect the baby from getting knotted when it is tossing around.

The baby’s bones are still very soft but its skeleton has fully formed now.

Week 32 Tips and Advice

The baby’s brain is still developing at this stage. So it is important for you to eat the right kind of food.

You will experience Braxton Hicks contractions at this stage. But if you cannot tell the difference between this and labor cramps then do speak to your doctor.

Take warm baths and eat small meals throughout the day to avoid contractions at this stage.

If you get into contractions then there are many ways to take your mind off it – because many times this can last for even a few days. Go for walks, talk to friends and keep yourself relaxed.  And do keep your body well hydrated.

Week 32 Fun

As your due date nears and you are making plans for the arrival of the new one, start thinking of ways of how you will announce the birth. Speak to your partner and jot down all the ideas that come to mind. Some say it with balloons and some with cupcakes. You can even create a Facebook page for it.
