Back to Pregnancy Week by Week Guide

Your baby is growing quite rapidly now. So it is natural that you are feeling tired. Hang in there because the feeling of giving birth is inexplicably beautiful and all this tiredness and sickness will all be worth it.

Changes in Your Body at Week 11 Pregnancy

As you gain weight and your stomach begins to protrude out (mainly because of the gas that the hormone progesterone is causing), people will begin to tell that you are pregnant. The gas might make you think that you can feel your baby move, but that is not true. There is still some time left for that. In the week 11 of pregnancy, it is likely that you will notice that your hair and toenails are growing faster than normal.  It is again because of the hormonal changes that your body undergoes.

As you finish this week and move into the 12th week of pregnancy, be prepared to feel warmer than usual. You might experience sudden hot flushes as well. The increased blood in your body will be causing this.

Your Baby’s Development at Week 11 Pregnancy

As you complete 10 weeks of pregnancy and move into the 11th one, your baby is around 2.5 inches long and more than half the length is the head – which is still very large.

This is the time when your baby’s body straightens out and bones and ribs form.

The skin is still very transparent at this stage.

At week 11 of pregnancy, the baby can move around during this stage. But it is still very tiny for you to feel any of its movements as yet.

The baby has learnt to swallow by this week.

Over the course of the next few weeks, the baby’s ears will move from the neck to the side of the head and position itself correctly.

Week 11 Pregnancy Tips and Advice

Because the little one is growing very fast and all the bones begin to form, it is advisable that you take an extra serving of calcium per day.

Do avoid any unpasteurized or blue veined cheese as that can cause infection.

At week 11 of pregnancy, while you should not put on excessive weight, please don’t go on a diet. Because all that you eat pass on as nutrients to your child. Depletion of the essential vitamins from your body will just make you weak and more so after the birthing process.

Many women experience dental problems during pregnancy. Hormonal changes in the body makes the gums softer thereby leading to bleeding gums. A regular routine of brushing and flossing will keep your teeth healthy. If you do suspect an infection then do visit your dentist. However let him know that you are still not into your second trimester. And during this period any x-rays, dental work or antibiotics should be avoided as much as is possible.

Week 11 Fun

Make a list of things that you will need during your Godh Bharai or Baby Shower. Go buy yourself the prettiest sari that you can find for the ceremony.

Indulge yourself a bit at week 11 of pregnancy – by taking a massage, giving in to a few food cravings, or starting with a hobby you always wanted to do, or just putting your feet up and snoozing at odd hours of the day. Everything’s permissible now!

Round up your family and plan a picnic together. And if it’s too cold or raining outside then go visit the museum, art galleries or even a cultural exhibition.
