Collection of 100 Kids Lunchbox Recipes - Download

    Hi Friends,

I need some ideas for packing lunch for my 1.5 year old kid.
He started his day care from august and i would like to pack those food which he can eat on his own.

    Now He takes
Aloo paratha/Pasta/Fruit pancake dosa these tiffin varities he can eat on his own. Curd rice he manages to eat with the help.

I feel variety rice(tomato, lemon etc) he can't have on his own but the sambhar rice / dhal/ upma will go dry in the noon.

Bread is given as snack in the day care.

I am sad :| I 've no varities to fill in the 1/4th of his small box except for 4 items i mentioned above.

please pour in all your ideas.

    Regards,
    Alamu

    Hi Alamu,
You can send mini idlis, puri, kids love it or else variation with the dosa and chapathi, make a veg filling with mashed veggies and roll it up, you can add a small bit of cheese, otherwise good old jam also. See how your son takes to it then, you will have enough ideas. You can pack finger foods on some days like french fries or smilies, non fussy food. Hope this helps.

re: Ideas for packing lunch for school-going kids

    Hi radha,

Even my daughter prefers Western food like sandwiches, pasta, cutlets, pudding etc. for her lunchbox as they are less messy & convenient for kids to handle ; though normally she loves predominantly Indian meals only. I'm starting her on school lunch-box from next month [presently I'm bringing her home during lunch time, feeding her & dropping her back] & so to increase her interest [ motivate myself too .. bonk] I'm showing her the above 2 sites ,and also teaching her health/nutrition etc. Once in 2 weeks, she can choose exactly what she wants from the selections / pictures / combos. in those sites. This has already piqued her curiosity ...... & I'm also hoping that with these ideas, I won't have to face a 1/2 full lunch box in the evenings ......:spin

    Bye.

    Dear Radha,
you can sprinkle thinly grated carrot, cabbage, capsicum, onion etc. on a oothappam (make it small) and then a little grated cheese. The same with idlis too. You can try different idlis (look up Ask Chitvish forum for more colourful idli recipes). Also Chithra had given recipes for apple parata, banana paratta and other mildly sweet paratas. You can try them, make them in envelope shape of any other shape (different each day) and send to him. Also Chinese fried rice will be bland. You can look up the recipe index and find out. PM if you need further help. Dal roti is also a very colourful and not much spicy one whole dish.

    Hi radha,
have you given him aloo parathaas. My son is just same as you have mentioned. I too make him some tiffins. Idli, noodles with veg., aloo paratha, pasta, bread sandwiches , chappaathis ,but he has some food varieties.
You can even make roti with a mixture of coconut, sugar, cashewnuts and pista [pieces] etc.....

Check what his friends brings, sometimes out of curiosity ,they would like what their friends bring also. So that you can also prepare the same dish for your kid.
