Moreover, since we tend to overeat when eating such foods it automatically reduces our capacity to eat anything else.

‘Fast foods are zero on nutrition but high on satiety value. Once you’ve eaten a cheeseburger, you won’t have space for anything nutritious,’ says Dr Pooja.

Even though we can’t see it visually damaging us, unhealthy food on a regular basis builds up cholesterol and triglycerides. This in turn leads to hypertension, artery diseases, etc. Shah adds, ‘If not today, it will take its toll 20-30 years from now. Just because you can’t see it, it doesn’t mean that it’s not there.’

Being Healthy Is Hard Work

Being healthy requires hard work no matter what your body type. Everyone has to watch their diet and exercise. Indulging in fatty foods regularly is never justified by your weighing scale.

‘Be moderate in everything,’ says Shah. Simply sleeping and getting up on time, eating simple home food and making junk food a rarity and not a habit will go a long way in keeping your body fit.

‘Health depends a lot on your mental state too. If you’re 40 kilos but under a lot of stress, you are going to be at a risk of a disease,’ she warns.

So, while it’s alright to enjoy those French fries once in a while, don’t get complacent with your body simply because it looks good. And we all watch our weight but don’t employ crash diets and forget to eat simply because you want to lose weight. If you’re thin, make sure you’re healthy and if you’re fat, well, make sure you are healthy. That’s always the priority.
