Hi,

I am also sailing in the same boat. What kind of openings are you looking for? The job market is very bad now. I am also very much worried.

Hi,

I guess the market is bad now, but then it also boils down to the point as to what openings u r looking for, and the experience u have in ur particular field. If u clarify on these things, maybe u'll find people coming up with more suggestions! And also it depends on ur employer, and how their marketing is, some do mass marketing of consultants, and in this case, the first break is alwaya a prob. Clarify a few things, so we can try and help.

i am also on the lookout for job......yes the job market looks very very bad, even though there are some openings the end client is not in a hurry to recruit.... they keep on dragging the things

i think it takes some time to get the first break.

all the best for ur search and wish it ends soon..

hi
Thanks all for your replies , basically ,I am looking for openings in cognos ,no prior experience this would be my first job , did training and attended a couple of technical interviews..but no follow ups from them ..My current employer does not deal with job openings , he is more into the h1 transfers and its related stuff. So searching job on my own . I got few calls in Jan but since then its really a stand still , i am clueless of what to do next ,
I am jus curious to know how are the openings in other IT fields ?Is it same ? or anyone in same field whats your experince?

thanks!

Padma,

I think the best way to go abt. it is to change ur employer. Get ur H1 transferred to a cons. firm whose marketing is good. Thats very imp.! And as far as I hear and see, Tech. jobs are easier to come by then the others, so check out a few good cons. firms, who do good marketing of cons. and take it from there. All the best!

You got trained just in COGNOS or the entire DW..

Wow.. I am surprised how you chose that with no experience either in the functional or the business side of it.

Frankly speaking, it is going to be hard, unless you prove your worth in each call. I am assuming your resume is also prepared by you [which is very wrong, since the resume is the first impression that shows out whether you are a fake or a genuine person with all the experience u had posted in that] Secondly, the way you attend the interview. I am assuming you are attending it as of its a QA session rather than an interview? Thirdly, marketing.. unless the first 2 clicks, once your resume is out, people would put a comment and its hard to click further unless you have a good marketing team.

I would suggest that you change your H1b, go to a company that has a good marketing team and also who will do your resume and teach you how to attend an interview if you are been trained to pose as if you are an experienced person.

Best of luck !
