I am very much fond of pets and so is my husband. From cats, to dogs , to birds, we love them all. Given a chance, I would have kept each of them as pets in house, but taking care of all of them together will be a trouble. Anyways, so I want to pet only one animal but I am very much confused about which one to go for. My conditions are, we stay in a flat in an apartment on the 3rd Floor

It can be dogs, cats, birds etc.. Just make sure that you take that responsibility seriously.. you should not treat them any less just because in future your plate is filled with more responsibilities ...
Now, it also depends on will there be people staying home? .. Dogs would want some company.. and they should be taken out for walk in the mornings and evenings.. they need exercise and fresh air... I have seen people bringing dogs and have them tied all day/night.. just with few minutes of free leash time .. that is cruelty. Dogs, should be let free to wander and have fun.. So I guess this can be only possible if you have an independent house.. In your case, I assume it got to be tied down all day.. I am against that.
Hey Aparajita, How about fishes? They look really nice and won’t spoil your carpet Keep an aquarium with lovely looking fishes and don’t forget to name them….

You’re right, I completely agree with you… Keeping a pet and not taking care of it is sheer cruelty. "Birds" is a lovely suggestion! I think a goldfish in a jar would also be nice as Sayonti suggested. What do you all say!
