| | Pillion Female Riders!
Dear Friends,
You would have seen females wearing sarees and sitting as pillion riders on the bike, moped or scooter. It has been noticed that it is very uncomfortable and dangerous to wear saree and go as pillion riders as the disadvantages are more than the advantages to be listed and is obvious. So please vote in with your opinions.

In Mumbai Highways, there were more than couple of deaths where the pillion rider was wearing a saree and it got stuck in the rear wheel and the victims were dragged and pulped to death!

Mals dearie,
Interesting and thoughtful poll. Not only wearing saree...even with Salwars, people dunt tuck their dupattas well and everytime i see it, i get tensed up. I open the car window every 10 mins and tell them much to DH's glare..
Not only these....some women just dunt care for their kids too. They keep them in a fashionable style(holding kid in single hand) and taken into consideration bad road conditions, one jerk and all the 3 trip off and lo there is loss of live.
bonk

Hi Aishu,
With sarees even the chunris are dangerous. I feel Indians do not dress up keeping the moment and climate in mind! It is the same all the time!
Thanks dearie.

Mals,
If all has to wear any other dress other than the saree, the people who are used to wear only sarees (like me and other senior citizens, in particular) how can they have that ride...
I second Saahithya that whatever dress one wears, they should be careful and take proper precaution before mounting onto the 2 wheelers..
Just as aishu pointed out..even salwars gives way to accidents..
Very sad to read the incidents related by you...as rightly pointed out by you...they should dress up according to the climate, situation, taking into consideration, the mode of transportation too...
Finally, I vote for NO..

Hi Sri,
I understand that people who are used to wearing sarees cannot suddenly opt out of it. Precaution has to be taken as a saree is 5 yards plus and when it gets stuck to the wheel it can drag a person to the length of the saree. Keeping in view the sentiments of all saree wearers, it is still a NO. Thanks for being honest.

Dear Mals,
women of our country had been doing so many things wearing saree from God knows when. Nowadays, people do not take proper care of their dress, that is the reason for accidents. And saree will be an important dress for most people even in the coming years. We cannot ban such a traditional dress just like that. As Sriniketan has said, she wears a saree even though she lives in the US and finds it comfortable. My two sils always wear saree only never churidar or nightie and they are most comfortable in that.
Watever we wear, we should take precautions according to the situation. I am seeing young girls riding two wheelers wearing long skirts now, it is flying all around them. Also when we sling a long bag on the shoulder, it is bound to get caught on the next vehicle and cause accidents.Banning saree is not the solution.
