| Poll for June 30th 2008 to 5th July 2008 Hello Ilites I was chilling out on a hot sunny afternoon with a glass of carrot juice. I got a call from my friend Nancy who was going on a survey spree to check out the best brands of home appliances. Looks like her gadgets - washing machine, fridge, dish washer was going on a strike one after another. She wanted to replace her home appliances that were going on strike as they are done with their life time. Her story was the food for this week's poll topic. When you go out to buy a home appliance - like washing machine, fridge, microwave oven, blender, grinder - what is that you look for in it? Take up this week's poll topic. Do you have your version of story like Nancy's about your home appliance shopping so share it here in this thread.

| Hi Laxmi, How are you? After a long time I am voteing here. It is av good question. Well. Whenever we want to buy any house hold appliances first I used to ask my friends who are having the item and collect detailes. Now a days I google for them. So after collecting all the information, we buy. Really , touch wood. till this date my fridge or washing machine or water purifier are working without any problem. Even in my husband's office his V.P. used to say, "Ask Mrs. Sundar, first to get something new to our office" ( at that time no comp.and all, I used to collect imfprmation from my friends and news papers) I will collect that much information about that product before buying it. Because, I used to think while pur. them that, we are going to buy those items once in our life time and that must be good. This is my opinion. I will select my appliances for my own use not to show off. Last edited by krishnaamma; 30th June 2008 at 03:36 AM. |

| Hi We used to do big research through all sources.....it must be "User friendly.."....and .we go only for " Branded..".. .and it has to cope with ".Latest technology.."........my DH never compromise for that.he needs latest one........and ofocurse " WARRANTY " is another imp one........never mind about the pricing.........it doesnot mean that we are ready to give max price for that........we will try our level best to get an item with all the above at very genuine rate......and so far achieved in that........

| Well, I do a sort of research and then decide. I would be looking up ads. to decide. Then a direct visit to the shop to see the product in person. Many times, our hopes are shattered. I bought a veg. chopper after hearing my friend rave and rant about it, it was a useless object. I threw it out after a few years. My hubby wanted to get a microwave and asked me about it. MW was just entering India so I was apprehensive about how useful it would be. I attended a cookery demo in Taj (Samsung people conducted), gathered lots of information. Then we set out on a Saturday morning by 8.30. We went to almost all the major shops. Then we went to IFB MW demo too. Then we went to Vasanth &Co in Usman Road and bought LG combi. even that was a mistake- I should have bought a convection model. But that was because the sales person told me that convection is useful only for making non veg. So much for the knowledge of the sales person. We bought the necessary vessels enroute and I started cooking that same day. After 2 days, the company mechanic came and he did no even know what to do about it. I am happy about my MW and find it difficult if there is no power. Same with washing machine- we went to buy a top loading fully automatic. But bought an IFB, front loading. I am sh happy about it, it is trouble free. |

| I would like to go for durability and functional abilities. The cost comes secondary!
