Should Indian Airports be Privatisated - Your opinion pls.

This topic has always been a high sense of debate whether airports be privatised or not !

At present we always see in the airports, zero help to tourists, massive pile up of garbages, no comfy place to sit & relax !!

The govt. has already taken a decision on option to privatize airports mainly for better service. Right?

Post your opinion pls. Lets have a healthy discussion.

i am really for privatisation of aiports . i am also of the opinion that wew will have at least some one where we can ask for help and also to clear doubts.a times i have seen old ladies going alone to see their chidren in the airport very much embarrassed .also about the clealiness it will be far better i feel when privatised. one thing is that i have seen is that the authorities will ask us to pay a special fees like 500 to 1000 rs ( in india) and they say it is as tax

Here in middle east, airport personnel are available to assist all passengers to move their luggages outside the airport. Paying tips is optional ! But in Indian airports, if tips are not paid, the personnel looks us as if we are from some other planet !!!

why not.. its a developing country and lets try to make it really work!!

there shouldnt be any more of this govt job and being so laid back... when private party takes over.. its work.. work.. work...

and as earlier someone mentioned.. it will be worth the money...

Kerala Govt has already taken initiation by privatizing one of its airports, and my friends said that the airport is awesome with wonderful service.

There was a programme called 'Virundhinar Potrudhum'(means 'let us celebrate the arrival of guests') implemented recently in Tamil Nadu. An IAS officer namely Ve. Iraianbu was behind this. As a first step, the auto drivers were given some training to behave with the foreigners.

At least, the Air Ports should look good to the foreigners. There is no second opinion. Privatisation is a very good option for that to happen.

The Chennai Airport was looking awful in most of the areas when I went last year for vacation. I felt painful.

Let us pray our motherland becomes one of the best.

Thanks Oviya for your reply. Chennai airport sure requires heavy revamping. Already B'lore and Hyderabad airports are undergoing huge face lifts. Hope chennai-ites get lucky to see a developed airport soon...

hi all,
our airports definitely require a facelift.as the point of entry,it is the first oppurtunity to create an impression and unfortunately our governments dont realise the importance.hopefully privatisation should be a good solution to make our airports presentable to international tourists and prove that india is a tourist friendly country...the least that can be done is to have clean restrooms,courteous and honest taxi drivers,and polite officials who dont try to sound bossy...
its time the authorities woke up...and took a look at airports around the world...

sowpar, rightly said ! The main issue is that politicians are concentrating on the banners and decorations put from the airport till their house but least bothers how the airport looks...
