| Dear Varalotti Sir, Blessed are we to have you in our midst to enlighten our ignorant selves about such wonderful stories and happenings on love.!! I looked transfixed at you story. reading it, absorbing it , savouring it, enjoying it, feeling the love , fighting the tears that were constantly blurring my vision. What Love!!, What devotion!!,What a wonderful way to merge,!! to unite to become one with the LORD , the ultimate bliss , the unison. What wouldnt I give for this unison.? I was also trembling ,as i envisioned the LORD , as he blessed his dear devotee, as he snubbed the Rishis superiority, as the Rishi carrried Panna to his ultimate destination, as RENGANATHA united with Panna. A million thankyou, Varalotti Sir, will not suffice but this is all i have as I thankyou whole heartedly for this lovely story, one that will be with me not just for sometime but forever and ever. You Sir have been entrusted the responsibility by HIM to spread the message of LOVE because HE knew that no one but you could do complete justice to it. I truly worship the message! Love, Devika

| dear sridhar sir, it was great to have the full story at one go ! i cannot think of any words to write a fitting feed back for this one... Thirupaanaazhwar's is indeed a unique kind of love, unlike any other....his is a story that goes to prove that the Lord does not need quantity in prayers, but simple, unwavering faith, love and nothing else...Paanan, with his10 paasurams, found a place among the azhwars, in the midst of others who have written hundreds and thousands.... Kondal Vannan is one of my favourites too... You know, when i was reading the story of Villi and Ponnachi, i was reminded of this one, and i was happily surprised to read in this post that Ramanujar himself had sung this paasuram to invoke the Lord's love and blessings for Villi....what else could be more appropriate... well, maybe thiruppaanaazhwar didnt give us a verbal palashruthi, but you certainly did... May all those who read this story, those who could shed tears knowing about Paana’s love for God and even those who are not fortunate enough to know this great love story – may all of them be blessed with everything in life, more especially a heart full of love. | Dear Sridhar, A perfect love story with a perfect ending and told oh so perfectly. ![]() Like others here, I too am totally mesmerized with this story of Paana. God's ways are very mysterious and it is beyond the ordinary me to even attempt at understanding it. Paana proved to be an extension of the Divinity born as a human being belonging to the lowest of the low caste. And why so, what was God trying to tell us through all this? That all human beings are same and there is no high and low caste. But......did we understand it? Did we do anything at all about it?? This has happened centuries back. You write that he was sanctified as an Azhwar and his statue is the closest to the Swami in the Ranganatha temple and his paasurams are read, even by the great saints themselves as in the story of Villi. If so, how come the caste system exists to this day? How come the great saints and acharyas that followed never eradicated this from our social structure? Even today, actually this morning, a friend of mine here in the US said that her daughter-- a US born and raised girl----wants to marry only within her Bramhin caste and creed! Outrageous, thought I, I did not say so aloud though! I thought it would not be polite. May be I am wrong to feel that way, after all, each to his own. There are advantages to marry within the community because the families can understand and adjust to each other better I guess...But....All of us know that it is not the way things function, right? Sorry, I think I digressed! Coming to Paana's very touching love affair with his Lord, it truly elevated me to another plane...a very beautiful and love filled pure world. You are creating magic with your magic wand..I meant your pen! I loved these stories of Paana and Villi and am very excited to read these excerpts from the Nalaayira Divya Prabandhams. (Hope I am right about that? Correct me if wrong). I am now very keen to know more about them and am hoping that you will be continuing these stories with your own unique style of presentation and excellent explanations. I feel fortunate to read and learn from them, thank you. L, Kamla |

| Dear Sridhar, Came back today again. Yesterday, I was feeling sort of depressed, I was thinking what is this I am heading nowhere etc etc and I logged into IL and came to your narration. I was reading at the same time as you were posting. I had to refresh each page and then go ahead. Reading this, my eyes were full and no thoughts came to mind. I had just visualised Lord and Thirupan. I could clearly see the Lord bleeding for his devotee and the rishi carrying him over to the Lord and he became a reason for them to see each other and unite. Hence yesterday's fb was of two line because no words/thoughts came out for few minutes. After reading this, suddenly I got a jerk and I felt cha.. what am I brooding sitting here, God has given such a precious life so that we can read these kind of love stories. I really felt ashamed of myself. I felt you had written this just for me to show the proper way to see him. I just can bow down to you, kindly accept the same on the net.Quote:
Thanks Sridhar, I don't know what punyam I did in my last birth that I accidentally stepped into IL and got so many beautiful jewels as friends and to read your narration. You have made my day dear !!!! A mere word of thanx is not enough but it comes directly from my heart.

| Dear Dear Sridhar I just read the first part and posted my feedback and then saw the next part was also there. So lucky I am....You made my day Sridhar. I had tears flowing through reading the love of Paana for the lord and the way lord reciprocated his love back. Your narration was so very good Sridhar.. Yes this is a perfect Love story and the best i have read so far. Your posts have been so informative and specially the connection of Villi to Panna was really a great piece. I will surely narrate these stories to my little boy. You have made it easy to learn such great things with your wonderful narration. A KODI thanks to you for your wonderful work. I liked the way you touch on social issues when talking so spiritually. If you were a Social Reformer you cud groom our generations so well..I really liked the few lines about how we out of sheer laziness contaminate the mother nature. A brillaint and a very informative piece. Thanks a lot Sridhar regards Vidya |

| Forgive me GFs, I was a little held up in other work and I could not reply to your responses till now. Will do it before tormorrow. I know I have made you rather heavy (and of course full) with stories about Azhwars and Villi. It's time high time we take a break to talk about some thing in the lighter veins - Mylapore Mamis, for example. So please visit my next Saturday thread, Mylapore Mamis and MNC Negotiations (Chithra, Please forgive me) and let me know what do you think on that subject. Love, |
