Dear Lalitha,
I can't bring myself to say a simple thanks for such a moving feedback, Lalitha. The fact that you were carried away by the narration, you have very beautifully expressed.
All of us are blessed. If we can imagine Villidasan, Sri Ramanuja standing late in the night (now also the time is 1130 pm) at the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, and at the behest of Ramanuja, the Great Lord opening his most beautiful eyes for Villi to see, the Lord disturbing his sleep of many aeons for the sake of a single devotee.... unless we are blessed how can we even think of this scene, Lalitha?

Love does miracles simply because it is God. Love is not God's quality. But God is Love's manifestation. Love can heal, love can create, love can sustain and do anything that God can do.

Quote:
How beautiful is the prayer of Acharya......so self less. With this Love nodoubt Lord Ranganatha had no choice but reveal his love filled eyes.
How Ramanuja prayed to the Lord is not known to us. There are various versions. I have been following his life and only a prayer like the one I have described jells with the rest of his life.

Quote:
Thanks Sridhar for potraying it so beautifully and bringing it to us.

Let the Lord bless you and family with all his heart and fill yours all with the divine LOVE.

Anxiously waiting for the "MORE"
Thanks Lalitha. Being able to write about the great saint, his most loving disciple and the loving God, that itself, I consider it as my blessing. Thanks once again.
love,

Thanks, kaluputti for the nice words. God loves us as much as He loves Villidasan. Let's be in our places and show our love towards God and the fellow creatures.
thanks once again.

Dear Krithika,

I don't know much about God and religion. But one thing I know for certain. If in His sannathi tears well up then you are in love with him. You know the beauty, Krithika? He is in love with each and every one of us. But only a very few reciprocate His love.

We have let him down several times. He has not done that even once. We have been unfaithful to him. We cheat on Him. He has never been unfaithful to us.

My eyes were also full reading about Surutapalli Easwaran. Can you tell me where exactly it is? If He wishes, I would love to see Him in that state. I have never heard of that earlier.

And let me thank you once again for nominating this thread for the Finest Post of May.

Stay tuned, Krithika. Will post the next part soon.
Regards,

Dear Sridhar

No words to speak. This piece was ineffable. Your writing was really impressive to fact that it was easy to differentiate beween the real 'I" within one's self. When i was reading the words of Shri Ramanujar, i remembered a saying of Ramana maharishi.

"The mind is only a bundle of thoughts. The thoughts have their root in the I-thought. Whoever investigates the True "I" enjoys the stillness of bliss." That was exactly the state of Villi when he had his moment of darshan.

Villi has realized his self in the heart and hence understood the Truth. Having transcended the dualities, he is never perplexed. What a wonderful write up Sridhar.

Shri.krishna Premi is here in Bloomington rendering upanyasams this week and next week. It has been a wonderful experience listening to his speech. yesterday there was a 2hrs speech on the Bhakthi of Prahladha. It was ming blowing and i had the same effect reading your piece. More interesting was your replies to everyone's note.

Thanks for this wonderful piece and waiting for the more to come..Infact really waiting.

Regards
Vidya

Dear BF,

You should start scripting TV serials. That will give the people something intelligent to watch.

The Great saint knew what he was doing when he took the wrestler to the Lord's presence.

Love is not a crime but it has to be channelised in a worthy direction. This is very relevant in today's time where we find men & women throwing acid on their lover's face for non reciprocal of their affection.

You have retold the story in a very interesting way BF. I am sure if the people in the media get hold of such stories, they will convert this story into a 100+ episode.

Eagerly awaiting the balance of the story from your pen BF. BTW, I am sure, Smt. Varlottiji (your wife) is a beautiful eyed lady.

A hidden compliment to your wife BF? Very clever of you.

Regards,

Your GF

Dear Devika,

It is a wonderful feeling to see the 'poetess' of the site giving such a wonderful feedback on this great love story. I read your fb several times to fully savour its taste.

Quote:
A beautiful post, a beautiful description ! An eternal description of love. The most beautiful emotion.
thanks a lot, Devika.

Quote:
Love is the best way to worship , worship GOD, worship life!
Love is not the way of worship. It is love which has to be worshipped as God is nothing but a manifestation of love. People mistakenly think that love is one of the qualities of God. They are wrong. God is but one of the manifestations of love. In another level God and love are the same.

And the quality of love is dependent on its intensity and not on the object of love. That's why I said love for a street dog is better than the love for the omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God. It has to be better because when we love a street dog, we don't expect much in return, except perhaps a few waggings of its tail. But when we love the all-powerful God we want the whole world, this world and the next one too, in return. A love loaded with ulterior motive is even more shameless than prostitution.

Quote:
The description of Ponnachi, I could see her, your description of Vallis love, I could feel it. Blessed are those that experience this kind of love, holier than scriptures and deeper than the ocean and so fulfilling. The life is then worth living !
Very well said, Devika. Poetical expressions. I simply loved it.

Quote:
Ramanujas way of showing the world and preaching love is commendable .I could almost feel a shiver as I imagined Renganatha opening the most beautiful eyes for Valli and Ponnachi to see. Such a selfless prayer GOD had to comply!
As I told you earlier we do not have any record of the saint's prayer. But after reading his life story and after seeing his qualities I could say with conviction that his prayer could have been only like this. If the saint had prayed for any other motive (May he ever remain blessed, for such thoughts would have never come a mile near him) God would not have opened his eyes. For God sees only the heart and ignores the words and actions. I just imagined the words given the nature of the great saint's heart.

Quote:
Lovely post Sir. Enjoyed it.If only all preached about Love, The world would transform into heaven and we all would ride on a different high.
And we should practise love too, Devika. To be loving does not mean that we should not be competitive or skilful. Love is not throwing alms at a beggar; but love is avoiding harsh haggling with the vendors and rickshawwallas, and give them their due, so that they do not become beggars. Love is not giving our children whatever they want, but showing them the right path to live, even if that involves some degree of chastisement.
Thanks a lot Devika for the nice fb.
love,

Dear Usha,

I am happy that you raised the question. I have partially answered that in my leader post itself.

And for a very detailed (and rather lengthy) explanation please refer to my response to Mithila Kannan who had raised a similar question.
Please read Post #21 in this thread.

And just a quick reassurance. Ramanuja did not make Villi renounce his wordly life or his beautiful life. Villi and Ponnachi lived together till the end.

love,

This is my theory. When one realizes the eternal love of God, they can still love their spouse or human beings and see people through His eyes.

Dear Swetha,
The last two lines of the paasuram are even more touching,

Icchuvai thavira yaan poi indira lokamaalum
Acchuvai tharinum venden aranga maa nagarulaane

And the next one in that film,

Oorilen kaaniyillai uravu matroruvar illai
paaril nil paatha moolam patrilen parama murthy
kaaroli vannane kannane katharukinren
Aarular kalaikan amma aranga maa nagarulaane

My Lord, who resides in Srirengam
I can't call any town as my own
Nor do I have any friends or relatives
And a fool I was, immersed in this wordly life
I did not grab your golden feet
And now I cry, oh, dark complexioned Lord
Who's there for me, who's my saviour

Our Acharyas have written pages and pages of explanation for the word kalai kan, which means a protector, a sanctuary etc. The word is pregnant with meanings.

I am very happy and proud of you Swetha, that you were able to quote Thondaripodi Azhwar's paasuram here. There is another beautiful one,
manathil or thooimai illai
Search for it in the net, understand its meaning and then tell me.

These are lines from Thondaradipodi Alwar Paasuram ...

Guessing how I related to it? ... well ... I remembered it as I've watched Thirumal Perumai atleast a 100 times!!!

Dear Mythili,
Thanks. It is a great feeling to know that you are at peace, now. Well I cannot afford to disturb the peace of the site's greatest writer just like that.
I salute to your soft, loving heart.
love,

Now Iam at peace.
Thank you for explaining to me with great patience,in what angle Ranganatha and Sri Ramanuja's love for villi whom they want to stand as a role model for generations to come, should be looked at.
Iam grateful to you.
All the best
mythili

Now Iam at peace.Sorry that I did not read those lines before or in my anxiety for villi and ponnachi overlooked those lines.
Thanks a lot for explaining the angle in which it has to be looked at in a patient manner.
Looking forward to the next part.
All the best
