A Return Gift From The Birthday Baby

Dear Bhargavi,
You are right, Bhargavi. I am generally against an expensive birthday bash as we will be sowing some wrong values in the child. The only thing I love about the party is the identical return gift. I have seen that in some marriages. They normally give a return gift. And they would have bags in three colours. There will be a 'knowing' person sitting in the gift counter who will see the guest, assess her and then give her an appropriate bag. Nothing is more vulgar than that.

Coming to the subject matter of discussion ,you have given a Lucelent description of a matured subject,death.

One's birthday is the most opportune time to think about that great subject. Thanks for understanding.

Definitely sir, the poem cannot be a reflection of the ones you listed.As I already mentioned that it was a matured subject ,the same cannot come from a pessimist,a preson suffering from depression because he may not be in a position :confused: to take the next step.
Generally people avoid speaking about death and attach to the sentiment behind it.A strict “No” to it during important moments in life like marriage,starting a career,stepping out for a function,while praying,while traveling and the list goes on and on and on.

Honestly, Bhargavi, if we can think about our death during those moments in a healthy way, our lives would really be great. We wont let money interfere in our decisions regarding our job, our marriage and our life.

The above lines remember me of the old song “Aadi adangum vaazhkayada indha aaradi nilam….”

I think that song is in Neer Kumizhi. Nagesh would be a cancer patient. He would be lying underneath a car, when the doctor or nurse will be telling some one that he (Nagesh in that movie) is going to die of cancer. Nagesh would come up from under the car. You should see his facial expression. My God! Aadi adangum vazkaiyada is an all time classic.

Really sir! You have conveyed the truth and reality in a simple manner.Great Lines.Not only his mind,body are left behind but his dear ones too.

that's the most cruel part of death. But who are dear ones, Bhargavi? Are they not just us sitting in different bodies just for a life time?

These lines confirm the truth that life is a journey.Time to depart and finish the journey.

What you say is true. But there are some who hold the exactly opposite view too. These people say, that when you know that an injection is going to be administered, you keep on thinking about that and that increases the pain. On the other hand if an injection is suddenly inserted you dont feel the pain. Similarly when you see a ball or an object coming towards you at a great speed, you panic and the pain increases. On the other hand if the object hits you all of a sudden you may not feel much pain.

Hmmm... So Sridhar, the point is- Pain or pleasure- they are the making of the mind. No Mind- Nothing exists! But alas! Always the mind works overtime to keep us at our human levels! It needs a power more superior than the mind to break its link and connect to the Origin.A tough task indeed! No wonder very few are able to take the challenge posed by the Creator!
