Excellent. I really wish most women treated like Lakshmi could retort her way. It would be satisfying to know how Lakshmi managed then onwards. Perhaps a single sentence could tell us how she retained her independence after being thrown out of the house. Life for this strong willed woman could not have been easy. But I want to believe that she set an example for others. She proved that a woman can survive wihout the help of MCP's.

Thanks, Ojantrik. I deliberately left out that single sentence which could tell about Lakshmi's life thereafter. The idea is even if she had suffered, the freedom was worth the while.
After observing life for so many years, from a seat which has a privileged view, I can say this: MCPs find it difficult to survive without women. But women can not only survive but also flourish and prosper without the MCPs.
thanks once again for the fb.
Names always fascinate me. I will be grateful if you can explain your pretty unique user ID.

Dear Brindha,
Your cute little avatar, which I suppose is your child, is quite pretty.

I am happy that you too like my Lakshmi fire out when ill-treated or insulted. Better to get a bad name and talk back rather be a door mat with a good name.
Thanks for the fb,brindha.
love,

Dear Vahee,
thanks for the kind words. I wrote this post close to three years ago and happy to see people appreciating the boldness of my Lakshmi even now.

Dear Sridhar

Loved this Lakshmi for her clear thinking and ability to boldly speak her mind in front of the whole family.

She not only stated her stand, but also saved her sister from being married into the same family. Who knows what

would have awaited her sister?

Dear Usha,
thanks. Those were IL's beginning days. It was like a small street with a few houses. But now IL is a huge metropolitan city. It is so big and has become so complex that at times I lose my way here. ha ha ha.
In those days to spice up the discussion I presented these Ashtalakshmis. To get praise from you now for those writings is a great privilege, Usha. Thanks.
You are right about her sister. If her sister had not given him a child, he would have married again. To hell with these people!
regards,

Dear sridhar,
On the one hand I do agree with her and her reaction to the family's ill treatment of her.In our society the BIL is considered as a son by the SIL.That much respect is given to the sil who is a mother figure the younger members of the family.Hence when Lakshmi utters these words, that means she crushed her heart and the feelings therein and came out with the knife like utterences, which would have put them to shame had they been in their senses.
I feel for Lakshmis.I sympathise with her.I wish the Rams would learn their lessons.God would teach them.He would have a daughter and she would face such a situation in life, then he would ralise.I hate myself for writing this, but I feel thats how God punishes the wrong doers."mata pitha seidhadhu makkalukku"

Dear Mythili,
By your Midas touch you have given a fresh lease of life to a long forgotten post.

It cannot be expressed any better. Lakshmi uttered those statements not out of infatuation for her bil, not even for getting an heir for the family, but for making those idiots to realise their folly. Yes that could have so much pain to her.

And you are right again when you specified the punishment for Ram. God is the most creative person (if She can be called so) and the poet with the greatest imagination. Whatever justice he deals with, he makes it poetic justice by his supreme intelligence.
thanks for the fb, Mythili.
love,
