Default My Story In The Latest Womans Era

I am pleased to tell you that the latest Womans Era (Nov I issue) carries my story "Caught In The Net Of Love" . The surprising thing is that I came to know about my own story only through Sharada (senior member of IL) who had read the story and had sent the review to me.
I promise you that this will be a different one from the rest.
After some time I'll post the story as a separate thread.
regards,
sridhar

Thumbs up "Manaiviyin Kadhalan"

Dear Sridhar

I have gone thro the short story: “Manaiviyin Kadhalan”. All characters are well explained (Sethu, Priya, Sabita, Rishi). I have been noticing that the extra marital affairs are getting too common these days, especially in a professional atmosphere, film industry etc. Many young girls tend to get into hot affair with their bosses…mainly to get noticed professionally and to grow career wise. But they don't realise that they are paying a heavy price and such relationships leads to "NO WHERE". Your short story is too simple but it clearly communicates that a third person can never take the place of a life partner. Please go ahead and translate the same in English. Let all other IL members get to read the same and enjoy.

Regards

Lakshmi Vinoth

Default Thanks Lakshmi, For The Reply!

Thanks a lot Lakshmi for reading the story and giving your comments. It's absolutely true that no one can take the place of a life partner. All affairs, however juicy, it may seem at the beginning end up in a disaster. Surely I'll translate the story one of these days.

Default really entertaining.......

Hello Sridhar,

Reading your post was really entertaining for me.

Its ages since I read any of such colums and I do doubt the authenticity of such queries.

It again throws light into our society - the degeneration thats happening.

I enjoyed reading the later part of the article on spiritual agony aunts and the query fm a 30 yr married man about neighbours daughter & the reply he got- that was too gooooooood an answer to such nasty guys. I was just wondering where do they get time to sit and watch their neighbours these days.

couldn't help laughing after reading those replies..........

good one, Sridhar.

Default Thanks Meena!

I have been researching on these Agony Aunt Colums for a while. I have now give a dissertation on them. The ending part of the middle was what I actually read in an Internet Agony Aunt site. Basically, I am against someone asking a public question about a personal problem. These people, I think, need psychiatric treatment. And I also think that persons who regularly read such columns (that squarely includes me) require some kind of a treatment. ha ha ha ha
Thanks for the nice words, Meena.

The latest Anandhavikatan (issue cover date 27/11/2005) carries my short story. It's a different genre. Would love to have your comments.

Default An Interesting Point About By Latest Vikatan Story!

There were some accusations against me four years ago (as there are now!) that I focus too much on women and too much on issues relating to marriage, sex etc. So I took that as a challenge and wove a story without even a single woman character and the story has nothing to do with sex or marriage or love. But while I can avoid 'love' in the sense the word occurs in 'love marriage' or 'making love', I cant write a single story where love (in the sense of Mother Theresa loving all the people) is not present. Surely I am going to translate the story for IL members as well.

Default good reading

Hi Varalotti

This is the first time I am replying in this section..I often read all postings by you,and all the other writers in this forum.I am amazed at the flow of words and how you all are able to express exactly what you want through your writings.I am not very good at expressing myself and many times I just don't get the right words to express something ,so I end up putting it very bluntly and many people consider me 'fire' because of that.In office( I worked for 10 yrs with Citibank ,Chennai, quit in Dec'2004)I was always considered too bold only because of this ,not being able to find right words and putting it too rudely/bluntly to even my bosses. That was one of the reasons why even though I read this column, I never respond.

But this Agony aunt thing was too good.Yes, even I wonder at times whether all these queries are true or whether they are too exaggerated. In U.S,there is something called the 'Maury' show where people come to confess to someone any mistakes they have done or someone comes to find out who is the father of her child. You won't believe it ,I've seen many cases where women come to the show to test atleast 25 men to find out whether any one is the father of their one child .

I was casually telling this to my husband when he said' you mean to say they went out with so many men in the one month that they conceived'. Infact till then that didn't strike me at all,I keep wondering whether I am so dumb.

But whatever it is ,that show is popular only because of such things.

Cheers

Default A Very Touching Response, Sunitha!

Thanks for the response, Sunitha. In fact the way in which you wove the words to express yourself belies your statement that you are not capable of expressing yourself. Expression, whether through words, spoken or written or painting or any thing for that matter, comes by experience. To start with all of us were rude. Then slowly experience polishes our expressions and we become adept at what we are about to say. I have been a chartered accountant for 21 years. I need to talk with and write to different types of people - petty-minded officials, money-pinching businessmen, jealous colleagues et al. Over the period I almost specialised in unpleasant communication. When I reckoned this as a byproduct of professional exposure, I set out to writing stories and articles.
Your expression is simple and natural. Only thing is you need to make it even more focussed. And that comes by experience. I would love to see you as a writer and a regular poster in this site.
Thanks for the nice words.
Your description of Maury show was quite interesting.
regards,
sridhar
