Curtain Raiser for Varalotti's new serial story - A LOVE STORY!

Dear Sridhar,
Good to hear that another story, especially Love story from you.My Best wishes to you!! Though i have not given any feedbacks for HE and SHE, you ask me anytime of the day i will narrate the story!! They were too good...even in office i sneak to a PC which has internet, login to IL, just to catch up the story!!

So, this time it will be a real treat Love- Story.Waiting for July 14th to come.

Thanks, Vidya. And you are right. I will be remembering you and Arun throughout. Yesterday morning I was thinking all about Arun, my hero. I had to think and re-think on every word which goes to mould his character in the story.

Another thanks for appreciating those lines. Normally in the traditional love stories the lovers think of nothing else but love. I used to wonder if they keep on thinking about love all day, who will feed them, what work will they do and how they can fulfill themselves.

I have seen persons in love. That gives an extra glow to their personality and gives them much deeper insights than those who are not in love. But alas, in many cases, that glow and those insights are lost a few years after the marriage.

I don't want to make my readers cry. But after penning the first episode and while reviewing it I could not help crying myself in a few instances. But honestly, Vidya, not all tears make us sad. When you see Arun going out of the way doing something for you, you are so moved that tears well up in your eyes. Those are tears of love and sadness. It is my avowed intention that those who read my stories should shed tears of love quite often. I reckon my success by the number of scenes that make them do so.

Amazing writeup as always Sridhar and Good luck.Your sixth child will be well fed and well kept with loads of love and just love, I promise....There will be no tinge of any indifference that she will ever face in her journey throughout...

What more does a father, an author want, Vidya? Thanks a lot for those tremendous words of reassurance, the life-nourishing food for any writer.

Thanks for the kind words, kinder wishes and great prayers. Only after reading your post I am a little jittery whether I would be able to fill your expectations. I'll make a sincere, loving and an earnest attempt. The rest is in Her hands.

There are several types of love stories. Somehow I don't like Maro Charithra type stories though when I was in my teens, those stories were my passionate favourites. Nor am I happy with Mills and Boon type love stories where there is nothing but love.

I want my love stories to be life-stories. Unless the love fits into the overall larger context of life, that love does not fascinate me. To bring in such a love in paper is at least as difficult as it is to bring it in real life.

Whatever may be result of my efforts with ardent fans and good friends like you surrounding me, I am sure my sixth child will have a warm reception here.

You need to do double , triple … so many times of homework this time because you have to make the serial more interesting than the curtain
raiser ! ! Enjoyed reading it

That was one problem I did foresee. In fact I had half mind to pen a poorly worded curtain raiser so that there might not be much expectations about the love story.

Reading a curtain raiser is like seeing a girl in a typical girl-seeing function, where the girl is well decorated and all her blemishes are suppressed and covered. But reading the main story is like seeing the bride on the wedding night. First I thought if I show the girl in an ordinary light first, the bridegroom will be excited on the wedding night even if the girl is just about average. But there is a risk, if the girl is ordinary then the boy might reject the girl.
Again I cant deliver anything but my best (which may be average in the eyes of the world) to my readers especially the ILites. So I worked hard on the CR. Yes, dear, your point noted and have started doing the homework. How well did I do the homework, you'd know on Monday morning.

Vidya , Arun & Kamla are lucky indeed since the main characters shine in their names ! That makes me too to long for that honor - will I get it someday ? ! ? ( just kidding ! )

It is very difficult to write a story with one's wife's name. I cannot bear the character bearing your name being even touched by any other male character in the story. So I cannot use your name. But when my name shines as a writer, it is you who really shines.

You ‘ve promised to make the serial very light .Pl . remember it ( not a single tear-jerking incident ,ok ? )or … we ( you along with me ! ) will have to protect ourselves from the stones thrown over our house by our dear GFs from all over the world ! So don’t have any idea of risking our lives , ok ? ! ?

That's one promise I think I am not going to deliver. Please read my response to Vidya Arun. The tears are tears of grief but of love. You'll be shedding them in the first episode and then remember these words.

Your sixth child will be pampered & will surely get all the love she expects from our dear GFs with the grace of Madurai Meenakshi since it will be born on the most auspicious day of the month ! Wish you good luck , Sridhar !

For you the countdown for monday morning (IST) should have started with bated breaths because - this is a secret for your eyes only - you enter the story in the very first episode. I have tried to mould your character from whatever I know about you. But have also added a lot more to make it exciting. Of course I need to crave your indulgence upfront that if the character that bears your name does something bad, don't blame me. At times I might be forced to do somethings to move the story on.

Now, I wonder how you are going to achieve that! No tears nor the normal expressions of love...also looks like love happens in spite of distances...You have made me all curious. Can't wait for the 14th July!

Can't do without tears. I tried hard but I could not. But as I have been telling already that it is perfectly okay to shed tears of love, unaccompanied by grief.

You know how do I feel? I feel like a girl's mother. The girl has just been seen by the grooms party. As her mother I took pains to beautify her and present her in her best form. And the grooms party have okayed the girl. (wittingly or unwittingly, only time can tell).
As the girl's mother I am anxious and nervous and will be so till the marriage is complete and the girl leaves my home and enters your hearts. Hope she stays there for a while.

You feel like the girl's mother! Well, take it that I feel like the boy's mother ( MIL is a tough word in this forum??!!)
I am looking forward, rather awaiting eagerly for her arrival! Well, till I see her ( read, read her), I do not want to pass a comment though I have made up my mind to accept her, however she be.Praise I will, if she is very good. Otherwise, I will pass no judgement but accept her as yet another daughter of my friend!

I would just like to add, that she loves us more when she twists our ears. When I had my ears twisted I had experienced her love but did not realise it until much later. I too am waiting with bated breaths. Of course the first episode is ready. Just now finished reading it for the hundredth time. Every time I read I am adding a word here, deleting a word there, changing a sentence here and polishing an expression there.

your writings have that stamp of being simple, understandable, yet profound...while we all want you to retain your cheerfulness, i would never like to see your writings missing the depth they usually carry...be it a serial, or a simple anecdote...

Great words, sowpar. I feel as if my mother is advising me. Thanks. I'll definitely have that in mind. Honestly I attempted to write a simple, weightless happy-go-lucky romance story. But I could not do that. I don't know whether I am excessively sentimental. But I did cry on a few instances while writing the first episode. Unless somebody else also says that she cried, I need to have my feelings and emotions professionally examined.

and of course, since i don't know Kamla beyond her posts, am eager to see the character she has inspired....

That was the tough part. To weave real person into the fictional yarn. I should do justice to the story to the person and also to the readers. Tell me whether I have done my job well.
