Dear Varalotty sir,
Ha! today i was able to access to the site through the link given by you. Read the story! Very very nice story and neat naration of general human psychology. A practical story. Any relegion preaches total surrender to GOD. "try your best and leave the rest to GOD", "yamirukka bayamen", and saranagathi thathvam of Vaishnavism all speak about total surrender to GOD around which your story revolves. But we human beings though we preach, speak and lecture yet when trouble comes we totally get shattered. During prayer the mind will be jumping from one worry to another with out control, the time being spent more on that than thinking of God. Well said sir....

with wishes and regards,
geeth

Dear Sridhar,
My hats off to you first for giving the link to get to read the story.Tears welled up (for - the bahkthi Raghavan had and the karunyam of that swamiji.)when i finished reading the story. We human beings are so irresolute in asking n number of things when we visit temples/mahans...But we fail to understand that god knows what we need and what to give us.When panic strikes we pour in offerings/prayers,but forget everything when we are fine and at peace. We practise barter system with god!!

Great story Sridhar! A Nice lesson learnt!

Dear Malathi,
You thrilled me with your sms fb which I am still retaining in my phone in spite of its very limited memory.
You know about the book. I used to think earlier that the book is in the hands of my publisher. But now after seeing the developments during the last few months, the inspiration I had to write poetry, and certain other coincidences I realise that the book is in Her hands. If She wills and thinks that it should be read by others, it will come precisely at the time She wills it to come, not even a nanosecond earlier or later.

The same is the case with this story as well. I wrote this story almost an year ago. Anandha Vikatan did not want it. So sent it to Dinamalar. After several months there was no response. So I thought it was lost in the heaps of stories they receive every day. (Couldn't blame them; they really receive mountains of stories poems and all) Then I sent another copy which finally found its way to its intended destination only because God willed it so.
Thanks for the fb.
And while on this let me tell you and all the ILites that my poem My Love and Hers has been accepted for publication by Kaavya Bharathi, a scholarly international poetry compendium published by SCILET, American College. And again as my contact told me, it may take some time. How many months are hidden behind the word, "some", as of now only She knows.

Sriniketan,

Thanks. A substantial part of the story is true. The kidnapping part is not. I just added to make the story appealing.

As I am completing 50 I look back on all my prayers to Her ever since I was a kid. You know what I consider as the greatest blessing? That SHE did not grant many of my prayers. And had SHE granted them, my life would have been a straight hell.

As Gibran says She knows our thoughts even before they arise in our mind. So what is there to ask, what is there to be done, except standing before her, melting in Her love, folding our hands and crying continuously?

Her not giving is also giving. And She knows nothing but love for is not SHE love herself?
regards,

True that we ask God for this and that...but we don't know what HE/SHE is going to give us, which at last, will be good for us..

I remember what I read long time ago : a Swamiji was mentioning to us that it is we who don't know what to ask HIM right, but HE is the one who gives us right!

Dear Geeth,
thanks for taking the trouble to read the story. You are right about sharanagathi. Our Vaishavite acharyas talk of two types of sharanagathi. the monkey and the cat.
If you had seen the monkey carrying its young, you would have noticed that the young one will hold on to his mother while the mother is going about.
In the case of the cat the cat carries her young one holding him by her mouth. Our sharanagathi should be like that. You need not even hold on to God.He hold on to us.

And there is no need to think about him. Or meditate on his name. Enough if we do not ignore his manifestation in the form of human beings in our midst.

thanks for the fb geeth.
regards,

Dear Aishwarya,
You made me sad and happy with your post. Happy because of the kind, appreciative words you have about my post and sad because of the wait loss ticker in your signature. Well, I should first say that your weight loss programme is impressive. And you know something I need a programme ten times as impressive as yours... You cant even make a wild guess about my weight..

I wrote the story with tears in my eyes. I know a few conservative family friends, who make out Lord Venkatachalapathi as a punitive God. They used to warn me when I am young, 'you will have to be very careful with Srinivasa Perumal, for he will punish you for the slightest of wrongs."
Bullshit. He is the very form and substance of love. He is such a Lord that He comes to my level and loves me. How can He ever even think of punishing, and of all persons, His own devotees?

Those days we used to get chain-post cards. The card will contain some miracle that happened in Thirupathi and we will be requested to make a copy of it and send it at least to 11 persons, otherwise,, the letter would threaten us of dire consequences. Every time I used to destroy the card with a smile. For does that Great Lord who is the Master of this and a billion Universes, require such cheap publicity stunts?

For us God is more like the computer service engineer, to be called when the computer called our life goes haywire. Otherwise God has no business to be invited.
If God is loving us in spite of this cheap mentality of us, how loving should He be?
And do we deserve His love? definitely not.

thanks for the fb, Aishwarya.
regards,

Dear Sridhar,
Let me first congratulate you for your poem "My love and Hers" having been selected for international publication. The poem deserves the recognition. She has been very happy and has thus blessed you. And once you have drawn Her attention, there is going to be no more hurdles.

I would say that Anandha vikatan has done a great favour by rejecting your posts!
May be very soon you will be switching your profession! Great! A loss to one field is a gain to another!
Love and regards,
Malathi

Dear Malathi,
thanks for the words which sure made my day today. Looks like you are the purveyor of Her blessings.
While I am not happy with Vikatan's rejection I am still working on a short story for them. I am experimenting now with different formats and different publication media. Let's see what SHE has in mind.
About the profession, I would rather love to be an accountant as long as I can be. There are people who think that being in a different profession is a hindrance to writing. Actually it is a blessing in disguise.I gather my materials during the day and work on it at night. For example two days back one of my clients came running to me. His own brother had sent him a legal notice accusing him of so many things. A few years back a father and son who were at loggerheads were both my clients.
And a touching post on the successful marriage of my old client C has adorned these forum a few days back.
As one writer in the US said, "We part-time writers have an unfair advantage over the full-time ones. We have the story enacted before us in the day and in the night what we do is just transcription."
Thanks for the kind, touching words, Malathi. Pray that the book should be released soon.
regards,

Dear All,

I am posting my entry in the 2007 Valentine Month contest as a separate thread.

The final part of walk with me thread has been a homage to my adoptive father.

That entry is my expression of love and gratitude to my biological father whose influence on me was no less.

Being in the contest thread this entry would have missed the attention of members who joined us after Feb 2007. And for the same reason it was not incorporated in the index as well.

Please read it and tell me what do you feel.

Dear Sridhar,
Thanks for ur encouragement on my weight loss...To me it means a lot...Coz i had been struggling to reduce weight for a long time and now i'm doing it with right spirit and guidance n rite food(Thanks to CV...) Since you have warned me.. i'm not ready to make a wild guess at all abt ur weight....

What you have told about the chain mails is absolutely true.Lord Balaji is my Istha deivam and also Kula deivam for DH's house.So....What more can i ask him except his love and blessings....All the time i went to Tirupathi....I had a great darshan with lesser Q, lesser trouble...My Grandma used to say that proudly.. If u take aishu.. dunno Y, but Perumal gets so rejoiced that he never troubles her and at her cost we all get good darshan n blessings...I'm not quoting it for boasting.. but just sharing this...

-Absolutely agree with you Sridhar.. no second question about this....

Thanks for taking time to write back....
