Dear sowparnika,
You are most welcome.
Faith moves not just the mountains but even the lord of mountains. You have quoted the sarama slokam, 66th verse in the 18th chapter of Gita. The Lord says, "sarva dharmaan paridhyadyaja maam eka sharanam vraja."
In the next line he gives an assurance that he will liberate us from all our sins and asks not to grieve. (Aham thva sarva paaphebyo mokshayishyami maa shuchaha)
But we should go beyond this too, sowparnika. Even if God were not to give such assurance, even if we know for sure, that taking refuge in him, our sufferings and sorrows would remain the same, even then we should take refuge in Him? Do we have any other option in this?
As Kulasekara Azhwar says,
"கண்டார் இகழ்வனவே காதலன் தான் செய்திடினும்
கொண்டானை அல்லால் அறியாக் குலமகள் போல்....
that should be our attitude of devotion.

Quote:
even if i sometimes exibit the slightest symptoms of a "why me" syndrome, he immediately stops me and says there is no use worrying about something over which one has no control...and always says that God will give us what we need...
I salute your husband. Even if God refuses what we need, even if we refuses to give us the air to breathe or the food to eat, even then our devotion should not waver a bit.

Quote:
once again, thanks for the lovely story...very vivid description...for a few minutes, you take us to Tirupati....
you are welcome.
regards,

Dear Sreelatha,
Give me some time. I'll try. I am not sure whether a story like this will lend itself to easy translation.

Dear Lalitha,
I think by the end of this year you will become a fast reader in Tamil.
Thanks for the nice words.

God always shows that he is there but we should be sensitive enough to realize the same. I agree with you in believing that we should not ask Guru & God, they know what to give us. Honestly this Iam practicising from a long time and with God's blessings I hope to continue the same.
That's good, Lalitha.
If at all we have to ask something we can ask something like this,
"Oh, Lord, give me the mind, that wont ask for anything from thee. Give me the mind that accepts whatever you give, good or bad, life or death. "

Thanks for the touchy and pullarikira experience.

Dear Sridhar ,
Kadhai alla …. Idhu oru kaaviyam ! God knows what to give & when to give . All we have to do is : to surrender ourselves to Him & do our duties without making any demands .

My Dear GFs,
All things should come to an end one day or other, whether we like it or not. And so is the case with this walking series. (not walking seriously or for that matter talking seriously)

In a few seconds from now I will be uploading,

Will You Walk With Me? - The Final Part

Having walked for so long, why don't you spend a few minutes more, complete the walk and have a dharshan of my Lord Vinaya at the destination?

Are you ready?
Come, let's go.

love,

Dear Mithila,
Thanks. When we ask for something from God, our energies are focussed on the things and not on God. And so the problem never gets solved. And moreover when we say constantly "I want this" "I want this" the universe conspires to keep us in that state of want.
When we just show our love to God, shedding tears of love and gratitude in his sannidhi, the Universal Presence detects the deficiencies and rushes to fill in our wants.

I remember your saying "urukkamulu" when you read this story about a year ago.

I had just started to think that nobody has quoted this sentence in the story and there comes your post highlighting these words. I enjoyed writing these sentences.

Sridhar,
nice narration, came to know that it is a true story.
True that we ask God for this and that...but we don't know what HE/SHE is going to give us, which at last, will be good for us..

I remember what I read long time ago : a Swamiji was mentioning to us that it is we who don't know what to ask HIM right, but HE is the one who gives us right!
