Default great story..

Oh my..what a beautiful story !! The sadness felt by Sharadha because of extreme rejection by her callous brother is so powerfully depicted, I was in a painful stupor for sometime !

Socrates's fervent prayer always was - ' all ye Gods, grant that I may become inwardly beautiful "!! How important it is to have 'inside beauty' !!

Great story Sridhar...

ambika.

Default Thanks, Ambika

thanks Ambika for the nice words. words like these coming from a person like you mean a lot to me. This story has a special significance to me. I wrote the story in 1998 in Anandha Vikatan. My daughter sort of accepted me as a writer only after reading this story. This is is the only story I wrote with tears in my eyes.
thanks for the words of praise, ambika,
sridhar

Thanks, Sundarusha.
It is sheer happiness to receive a response some three years after I posted this story.
Do you know that this story got me the very first award ever instituted in this site?
The Ganesh Deepam sent by IL Team still adorns our drawing room.

love,

All the best in your future stories. From this , one can conclude that external beauty can be gauged by the eyes where as it takes a lot more to gauge the internal beauty and it is not easily visible to everyone at all times.

Thanks Sundarusha for your kind wishes.
Incidentally I read your motivation metaphor thanks to the link you have provided.
I liked the metaphor very much.

Sethu has an uglier scar in his mind than what Sharada has on her face. He could not acknowledge the love of his sister!! Narrow minded idiot..

Sorry for responding aggressively but in these days the rarest thing in this world is not gold or diamonds but unconditional love. And this fool could not accept it but wanted the benefits resulting from it?? Very selfish fellow..

Dear Lakshmi,
This short story is something very special for me. If The Promise got me into IL, The Scar got me the very first award. In fact that was IL's very first award to. Even now there's that thread in Contests Forum. It's called, The Best Poster Award.
And this thread got an award because it had some 100 plus views and some 15 plus replies.
An aggressive response is invariably an authentic response. I love that.
thanks Lakshmi once again.
regards,
