Sindhis- Cheti Chand

Did you know about the Cheti Chand festival celebrated by Sindhis all over the world! Cheti Chand or the Sindhi New Year is observed on the first day of the month of Chaitra. Chaitra is called as Cheti in Sindhi, so this festival is known as Cheti Chand.

The Sindhi community celebrates Cheti Chand in honor of the birth of their patron saint, Jhulelal. People take Baharana Sahib consisting of Jyot, Phota, Misri, Akha, Fal to the nearest river along with an idol of Jhulelal Devta. On this day people greet each other by saying "Cheti Chand jyon Lakh Lakh Wadayun Athav".
