Festival - Taj Mahotsav

The Taj Mahotsav is an annual festival that takes place from 18^th to 27^th of February. The site of the festival is Shilpgram, near Taj Mahal. The festival is a tribute to the rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh. This ten-day festival is a memorable experience for each of the visitors.

Artists from every nook and corner of India display their talents during this festival. This is one of the most gorgeous festivals of India and is organized by Uttar Pradesh Tourism.

Taj Mahotsav is an eagerly awaited festival. It takes place at Shilpgram near the Eastern gate of Taj Mahal.

It is a ten-day long carnival and is a vibrant platform that brings the finest craft and culture of India together. This festival celebrates the traditions of India in general and Uttar Pradesh in particular. It displays the art, culture, craft and cuisine of India extensively.

It is a cultural festival, which started in 1992 and 2009 saw it celebrating its 18^th year. I was lucky to visit Agra and witness the Taj Mahotsav a few years back and the grandeur was highly impressive.

Taj Mahotsav indeed is a grand celebration of the heritage of Uttar Pradesh. It is a major tourist attraction and thousands of visitors flock to Agra from various parts of India as well as from abroad.

As Jaya says, Taj Mahotsav is a carnival in every sense of the term. Festivities start throughout the region and Agra gets enriched with diverse colors of joy.

During the festival, Agra and the vicinities of Taj bustle with diverse joyful activities and become lively and vibrant. The entire area of the festival looks like a small version of Uttar Pradesh market.
