Hi Supriya, I have bought my bakeware from different stores, but Walmart will be my first choice. If I don't find something I am looking for at Walmart, then either I wait to see if I find it somewhere else, or order it from Amazon.

Christmas is one of the biggest baking seasons in the year, so I am not sure if the bakeware really go on 'sale'. Have never bought it around Christmas though, so no idea.

I mostly have pyrex brands for glass bakeware
an 8x8 square glass pyrex dish with lid
a 9x13 rectangular glass pyrex dish with lid
a 9 inch pyrex glass pie dish

These dishes also come in portable insulated carriers and I love them because you can bake and carry these for potlucks or picnics. So convenient! You can even keep them either hot or chilled depending on the dish.

For breads, cakes, muffins, bundts, I love the silicone bakeware I have. They are so easy to store, clean, and they are strong and long lasting. They don't dent or rust like the metal pans.

For cookies, I won't recommend buying the cheap metal sheets that Walmart has, because they start twisting and warping at high temperatures. After spending so much money on those kind of sheets, I discovered the heavy duty insulated layer ones. Calphalon or Farberware makes those (there maybe other brands that I don't know of). Basically these sheets have two layers of heavy duty metal with air pocket between them which helps with good soft, chewy cookies and the sheets won't bend either.

Hope I helped. Oh, and don't spend money on those silicone baking sheets that go on top of the cookie sheets, you can use non-stick aluminium foil and they are just as easy with clean up and cheaper.

Hi supriya,

Unfortunately I cannot answer the first 2 questions since i don't live in the US.

I buy my bakeware when i see something on sale. Only the mini muffin pan i bought to serve a party.

I have the following bakeware:

1. a rectangular shallow ceramic (some belgian brand... i bought at outlet) that i use for lasagne, gratin
2. regular muffin pan with 6 holes and wit 12 holes
3. a mini muffin pan (24 holes)
4. a 20 cm round pan with detachable bottom
5. a 24 cm round pan with option for bundt cakes (it has a tumbler like accessory that can be removed)
6. a 28 cm round spring form pan
7. 2 loaf pans
8. a small baking tray that i use for brownies
9. ramekin forms (in porcelain)
10. mini tart pans (
11. 12-er mini kugelhopf pan

oh dear i know realise i have way too many forms... better stop buying

Hi,

The last post was an impressive list . May i add 2 more things that i happen to have ? A deep pie dish and a roasting pan.

When buying , just thing about want you want to make and then buy accordingly. You can make puddings, flans, pies/tarts and quiches in a pie dish. You need a springfoam pan for cheesecakes. Its easier to use them for that. You may need a round cake pan for cakes or a bunt pan for cakes with a hole in the centre. these are the general things.

hope it helps.

Yes, you will need a muffin and a baking tray. I have a Farberware hand held mixer and I use it for all my baking needs. It's definitely faster and easier to mix all the liquid ingredients.

If you want just simple recipes, you can find oatmeal cookie recipes on the quaker quick cooking oats container, various chocolate chip recipes on the chocolate chips that you find at Walmart. That's how I learned baking. They are usually simple and don't require a whole lot ingredients either. Even the baking powder container will have some kind of a recipe and they are usually good.
