| | Please Don't Shave!
Hi All,
This thread is for people you look for quick fixes and dread from pain of waxing. Don't be lazy ladies. Do not shave your legs & hands. Wax them. Underarms & bikini area is your choice(I will not talk about that here).
Shaving might save you at the niche of the moment but in the long run it is absolutely a No,No.
Ingrowns, infections, coarse hair, dark hair, needle like hair, pigmentation, quick growth are few of the problems that you could face due to shaving.
Well I am no exception,I have also been a victim of shave but for past two years i have stopped shaving(except at two unavoidable occasions ) I have been waxing at home, this way I have saving money, keeping myself busy, spending time just with myself, cleaning up at my convenience and as much as I want.
Will be back with some waxing tips.
Stay hair free, Stay beautiful!
Luv ya!

Hi,
When i came to U.S. i have experimented in waxing. But really its painful ie., doing it by ourself without exp.I have tried 3 to 4 times on hands.,but never really succesful.,So, i have stopped it.,
If you know any tips ., let me know.
DO you have any idea abt electrical shavers. Now a days there are no of models., some of them can be used to cut from the roots.
Don't whether they are safe or not?

Very true, shaving is very bad for skin & we should avoid it on arms & legs. I had very fine hair on my legs & started to shave it off regularly & ended up with coarse hair. So stopped doing this & for the past couple of years I've only been waxing & this has reduced the hair growth to a great extent.
As much as waxing is painful its the best method of hair removal. Just my personal experience.

Hey gsl, I'm glad you tried waxing.now that was a start though not so good in your case. now here are few things that could make your waxing experience a little better(my experience): 1) Make sure you haven't taken bath with warm/hot water 6-8 hours before you wax. Opens your pores, activates blood vessels & nerves because you are more sensitive to pain and infection. 2) Do not apply any moisturizer atleast couple of hours before wax.
If your skin is oily before waxing you will not achieve satisfactory results and might also increase your pain. 3) Apply baby powder before you wax. Makes it easy to wax.Ignoring first two points may not cause much damage but please don't ignore this point. "Apply baby powder before you wax" - It's the golden rule. 4) I am comfortable with warm wax than cold(find it less painful..again its ones preference). Wax should be of the right temperature. Always check the temperature before apply it. You don't wana get any burns. 5) Always apply wax in the direction of hairgrowth and pull out in the opposite direction(please let me know if you want more information on this). 6) Apply the wax strip/muslin cloth in the same direction that you applied wax and press firmly couple of times(this would help the strip to hold unto the wax well and also prepare you for the oncoming monster, the pain itself). 7) Pull out the strip at one go,dont stop. Here comes the most important point: Once you pull out the strip please press/rub gently the waxed part. This will immediately sooth the activated nerves and blood vessels. Human touch is always the best pain reliever/ Don't you think so?? (I am going a little off topic here but just can't stop mentioning. When I have bad period day, though no period day is good..i used to ask my mom to massage my tummy...absolute painn reliever oh I miss that so much now..now i do it myself..as I am thousands of miles away from mom ) 8) Once you are done waxing, apply some soothing gel very gently...like witch hazel or aloe vera gel. A good moisturiser also can do some good as an alternative. 9) Do not expect the bumps to go away right then..it will take time. I usually wax in the evening/night so that i get the entire night to recover to a beautiful looking hair free body. Also you have -10 hours before you bathe so you are not activating those senses any early. Do not consume much caffeine before waxing. I do not have a reason offhand but helps if you refrain. Also as HappyGal said..you will have less and fine hair growing after couple of wax sessions. Pain is certainly there but look at what you get after that pain...clean,smooth,soft, amazing looking hands and legs. I think its worth the pain. And some wiseman said "Pain makes us take bad decisions" I follow this for the good reasons only! Hope this helps dear. Happy Waxing!

Hi chilipepperpu,
Thanks a lot. I'm shaving my legs and arms for more than 3 years. I didn't know its bad. I didn't use any waxing till now. Can you suggest me some brands? Can we do waxing for all over the body? in bikini areas? Please let me know.

Hi Uma,
I have GiGi Mini Pro Kit at home. It is a starter kit that comes with all that you would need for waxing e.g. Wax warmer, Applicators, strips, pre-hon lotion, after epilation lotion etc. Once you exhaust these you could buy them individually. They have an instruction manual too for every part of body . However it does not have dusting powder(so I use baby powder works the same).
Also they provide creme wax in the kit which is a lil messy but works very well on coarse hair. Alternatiively you could use all-purpose wax. I bought this kit from Sally's beauty supply, you could buy it off Amazon etc too.
I would suggest you to go to the parlor for the first time since its been three years that you have been shaving and your hair must have got really coarse. It might be difficult for you to do it yourself as a beginner.
Yes you could wax all over your body however the wax type varies for bikini area. I would suggest you to first get used to waxing else where and continue to trim/shave in the bikini area. Once you feel comfortable with other areas you could think of bikin area.
Hope this helps!

another tip i have for you is to rub a cube of ice gently on the waxed area immediately, numbs the area and provides immediate relief.
while rubbing take a piece of cloth in the other hand to absorb the water that melts!
