Idea Star Singer 2008

Hi all,

As our thread IDEA star singer on Asianet was a great hit, I would like to start this new thread for Idea Star Singer 2008 also. Hope all the ISS lovers will pour in their opinions about the new show here.

Idea star singer 2008 had its official launch yesterday during the grand finale of Idea star singer 2007. It was inaugurated by the famous actress Smt. Sukumari by lighting candles.

The program will be telecasted from April 28th in Asianet.

I saw ur previous thread on star singer 2007 and really loved reading thru it. Here fortunately, we have cable TV connection and we're getting Asianet . So we get to know all news ..a great relief indeed.

I watch the Idea star singer.. and looking forward to the 2008 episodes.. It seems that The prize money has doubled for the star singer 2008.... it has touched the 1 crore mark.. And winner as well as other good singers get
chances as playback singers.. What a wonderful opportunity ...Big cheers to the
Asianet team behind this reality show.

Its a great platform for the musically talented kids. Of course, the competition is very tough too.. There are different rounds like raga, "kacheri", gazal, performance , old malayalam songs, melody, devotional songs, fast numbers etc.. etc... the participants have to really prove themselves in all the rounds and has to be versatile too.. Its a tough competition ..

I don't know who is the panel of judges for the 2008 show.Anybody knows about the judges?

There will be two winners this time, one Male and one Female Singer. The winners will be getting villas worth Rs.2 Crores in Dubai, i think...

Let's wait and see what happens...No idea about the judges or the anchor...

I wish we had Ranjini as the host.She had so much of warmth and energy and she gelled well with the contestants too!

Our compere for the ISS thread. I was planning to ask you about a new thread before I saw this.

Ramya Ravindran is the new Compere for ISS. she is a nice girl, I have seen her in person and talked to her. She was being sponsored bymy sister when she was compering for the Music Moments in Surya TV.
The judges were MG Srikumar, Ouseppachhan and Unnikrishnan. LR Eswari was the celebrity guest. Did anyone see the prog yesterday?
I couldn't see fully. Manikantan and Ambili were the two contestants who got in yesterday.

Glad to know that there are only three judges. I was surprised to see so many. I liked the changess too.

Thanks manju for starting this thread.. I went thru ur ISS 2007 thread .. its a super duper hit.. I saw the ISS 2008 yesterday on TV. As jaya said Ranjini was bubbly and she had warmth . But remya is also an experienced comperer. Along with her, another girl will co-anchor the episodes.. she is a girl to watch out for.. very smart.. i missed out on her name.. She has anchored another reality show on Zee some time ago.. etc..

Judges are Ouseppachan, MG sreekumar and Unnikrishnan. I thought L.R Easwari was a judge too.. are u sure she's only the celebrity judge??? Its sad that there is no female judge this time.. Last time Usha Uthup really rocked.. Didn't she?

Then , our superstar Suresh Gopi inaugurated the program, he sang a song too... Our ISS 2007 winner Najim Arshad sang the "eswara prarthana" ..it was mesmerising.. that guy really deserve to be the star singer..Whats everyone's opinion?

After that all the judges sang songs.. it was good show on the whole..

Hi Sujithra,

Welcome to ISS. I think Manju is very busy with her office work, so let me help her out.
I don't really know but what I understood from the program is that LR Eswari is the celebrity judge. I can't think of her as a permanant judge, she is not as healthy as Usha didi to take the strain of sitting through all the episodes.
As far as Remya is concerned , she is also very bubbly and the other one is Devi. she was also in the Channel V contests and was a runner up or something like that.

I missed out yesterday's program. Anyone who saw can fill in?

I am out of station...on a vacation to my parent's place... today only i could log on to IL after a long gap... Also not able to watch ISS 2008 as they don't get Asianet here in this part of Maharashtra... My parents are working here..

So everyone please update me what is happening in ISS for the next two weeks..

Audition rounds are going on now and out of 85 contestants they will be selecting 50. And since all are new it will take time for us to get accustomed to the contestants name.
Moreover you are the one who constantly update us when we miss the pgme...!
