Default New Year Vacation Plan - Need suggestions

Hi all,

Planning for new year trip..not exactly the same date either few days before or after...

looking for some scenic places with good climate

We are starting from Chennai

Quite used to hill sattions in and around Tamilnadu like Ooty,Kodai,Kolli hills, Munnar and so on

Can somebody throw light for few good destinations in other Southern states such as kerala, karnataka and AP

We dont have interest in theme parks...

If it is somewhere in and around Bangalore we can drive ourselves

whereas if we target kerala we should book train tickets..so require your inputs asap so that we plan leisurely

thanks all

Cindhuja,

This is a good plan.My DH is a member in team-bhp forum.I cannot post the link of that forum here.Try to google it with the name and find it.It consists of plenty of vacation ideas and route maps. The site is really helpful and awesome if you want to go by car..

Good Luck!

hello Cindhuja,

If you are looking for trips in and around bangalore to drive around, you can try different destinations like Bheemeshwari, Kabini offered by Jungle Lodges.
Jungle Lodges & Resorts Eco Holidays

Its on way to Mysore from Bangalore, So you can even plan to stop over at Mysore if you wish so. But hurry up in booking up as I heard that these get booked very early mainly on vacation season.

Regards,
Malar

Hi Cindhuja

I was at Coorg last month with my DH and it was amazing - very unspoilt peaceful place with no commercial stuff like Munnar or Ooty. And you can visit Talacauvery, Bhagamandala, Kushalnagar (the golden tibetan temple is worth a visit here) and Dubare. At Dubare, you can do white water rafting on cauvery river. We spent 10 days there out of which 5 days, all me and my DH did was relax and chill out at our Mahindra Kodagu Valley resort. There is also lots of trekking activities. Definitely one of the most superb holidays we ever had.

You can combine Mysore and Coorg together (if you have not visited Mysore yet) and even add on Mangalore which you can drive down from Coorg (though the roads were bad when we were there).

In Kerala, you can go to Wayanad, there are some lovely resorts there. Or if you want to combine 2-3 places together, do Thekkady and Munnar, Thekkady is nice but personally I felt Munnar was too commercialised.

All the best with your holiday planning.

Cheers
Preethi

You will have a lot of options for accomodation available at moderate rate. If you are looking for expensive, there is Orange county and Club Mahindra as well.

How about food and climate....
Food will be of mixture pof both Karnataka and Kerala cuisine. As it is December, I assume Climate will be pretty cold. Not sure abt this. You check this out.

Kids can definitely enjoy..

If you are in Bangalore, it will take 5-6 hrs drive from here.

I really doubt if there are any trains running to Coorg.

You can visit temples in Srirangapatna, Ranganthittu bird sanctuary, Innovative film city etc etc. There are lots of places to be covered.

My personal suggestion for you is as you are in TTC phase is to visit dodamalur krishna temple where baby krishna idol is there. This temple has done wonders for me. I am sorry in case I said something that is of personal in a public forum
