Camping experiences
Hi,
We went for camping with friends and kids and it was fun.
I thought i will share my experiences with you all.
I am not very good at writing, expressing like some others here( who write abt their trips which is soo nice , as if we too went with them.)
Just trying my best here, so i apologise if it is good.
We decided for a nearby campground, which had some activites to do like boating, good trails and amenities like good bathrooms and electrical outlets.
we decided on the number of ppl, and what foods to bring, what supplies to get.
After deciding on the camp ground and activites we had lots of shopping to do, like buying tent, torch lights, tarp, ropes etc
we didn't want to invest too much becos we didn't know if we will like it or hate it. so we bought only the basics.
As the days were nearing we just checked if we bought all items, and calling each other abt preparations, games to play and foods etc, as the count down began we were very excited and looking forward.
we went to the campground before it became dark,we had fun time setting up the tent, helping friends to set up the tent, tents not set up properly and falling off. one friend came late and it was very dark, we few us had torch lights and lamps to help the others to put up the tent. one of them read the instructions but set it up wrongly, so they had to redo it while all others were cheering up. finally once all over tents were up, we were tired and starving.
Then we set up a canopy where we can keep all food items and sit down later to relax, while the men set up the canopy few kids played pranks by removing those metal stakes and the canopy fell down on oneside.
The men started the grill, and grilled chicken and corn, while the ladies took out all the packed food, rice, samosas and salad etc and set up the table, we had food in the dark with gas lamps like in india. it was fun and diff experience.
then we all cleaned up and set up our chairs and the chat session started.
cleaning up the place is important as we didnt want any animals to visit us.We chatted until the officers( who take care of the campgrounds) came and asked us to keep quiet. some grounds have rules abt how late we can make noise.
we took comforters and old sheets instead of sleeping bags and it was good enough for the night, it was cozy and nice to sleep inside the tent and our kid had a good time.
Next day, few of us went to get few buckets of water, (remembered the old times in india how ladies get water in pots) we set up electric stove to heat milk, coffee and breakfast for everyone, we had booked a campsite with electric outlet. so made toasts and eggs and also cereal and fruits for breakfast.
used our electric rice cookers to cook rice and pasta for lunch. some gravies we were stored in icecoolers and we heated them for lunch.
we explored the park, went for boating, games with friends and the day passed very soon. every meal was fun, from setting up the table and eating out and brought all the friends and families more close.
Everyone learnt how much of our day to day luxuries we take for granted. it was a total new experience and fun. we learnt to respect nature and the environment.
We followed the rules , not to dispose the dishwater in the grounds, we took all dirty dishes to the designated area to wash them.
Cleaning up and removing the tent was another big thing and everyone helped each other to pack away all the stuff and no one wanted to leave the place, we liked it so much and had such a good fun and wanted it never to end. but the rains poured in right on time asking us to go back home. it was such a heavy thunderstorm, we all had to drive slowly, inch by inch following each other until we came out of the wooded area.
The next few weeks felt so refreshed, energised to start back the routine.
We need a break once ina while right!
