| Congrats on the upcoming anniversary. Hawaii has 4 islands - Maui, Oahu, Big Island and Kuai. Oahu is the most commercial, followed by Maui. Big Island and Kuai are less touristy. I have been to Maui and Big Island and really really enjoyed visiting both islands. Big Island has more natural stuff, like volcanoes, black sand beaches, hot springs etc. but lesser number of beaches. Maui has more family oriented hotels, and lots n lots of nice beaches. Road to Hana is a must on Maui. There is a fruit stand near the start of the road and a woman there sells fresh sugarcane juice. Totally worth the $5 per glass she charges. Have a fun time there. Food is expensive, so try to get a room with a kitchenette. Carry cereal for breakfast, buy milk there. And take some of our Indian grocery items, after 2-3 days of eating out you will want some desi food! Some snack items will also be good like namkeens, murukku etc. Try to find a walmart/costco there and purchase water/juice in bulk for your travel there. and a portable ice cooler will also be helpful. If you go to Big Island, I recommend a bed and breakfast Big Island Pahoa Hawaii Bed & Breakfast on the Island of Hawaii - Hale Makamae Hawaii B & B which is very reasonably priced and offers a yummy breakfast everyday. The hosts are also very nice here. enjoy .. hawaii is truly paradise on earth! Last edited by pmahensa; 25th July 2008 at 02:07 AM. |
