Hi Paulina,

Very interesting culture. Even though we're also in africa, haven't come across such interesting things until now. Here also they have many tribes..
A particular tribe called masais are interesting people. They are traditionally nomadic cattlemen, in recent years they have been encouraged to make settlements. The lives of the Masai centres around cattle herding. They believe God entrusted the cattle to the Masai people, and wealth is measured in number of cattle.
They are known for their tradition of hair plaits, heavy iron necklaces, and fierce warriormanship, often depicted carrying a spear. The Masai's unique hair is a clear living symbol of their tradition and culture.

They roam around the city in their traditional robes here. They wear diff kinds of beaded jewellery and mostly carries a long rod. Nowadays modern masais have mobile fones n all electronic gadgets.
You have narrated how swazis carry the modern n old elements with grace, i jus thought abt these masai tribes .

Awaiting the next part of your series...

cheers,
sujithra

Dear Chi,

Thanks for reading about Africa...yes I've read about the Masai tribe .It is amazing how they have integrated themselves with modern ways of life while maintaining their old traditions. We visited Zimbabwe and Kenya besides living in Mozambique and Swaziland.
Just to let you know, the article is in 4 parts and they are all there in the Travel Forum.... if you scroll up or down you can locate it.
How long have you been residing in Tanzania. While in Mozambique, we had friends from Tanzania too.
warm regards
PAULINA
