I voted for Money and time which is the topmost in vacation planning. Offcourse the 3rd option is family constraints like cannot travel very long distance with small kid, etc.

I voted for family constraints mainly. Money and budgeting is always there. As my oldest son enters high school, its time to slowly put vacationing and other things in the back seat and concentrate on his studies, save for colleges etc. Soon my younger one will follow. So for now, I think we will definitely put the priority on the children and continue (if we survive the college fee) on vacatoning after a while.

Regards,
Priya

Dear Krithika, You have come out with a excellent vote for Vacation : ...

I vote for Family Constraint, Money (Budget), Location and Individual Travel because,
1. as we have kids who are still small it is difficult to travel long distance...
2. we can't expend on everything as Hotels and Food outside is too expensive here and also travel (if in car - Petrol, Toll roads, etc) ... but no way in train or bus with kids

3. As a family, I always prefer individual than Group especially because of kids ...

4. Location is main due to weather, distance, important places ... moreover, places which we haven't visited before is good ...

Thanks for your thread and am very happy to share my thoughts here ... Regards, Suni ...

Hi Suji,

Thanks for your vote !

Planning travel during long weekends, becomes hectic in the sense that there is lot of crowd and lines everywhere.

And, yes, it is always good to check for travel deals well in advance before we travel.

Cheers
Krithika

Then based on that we check few travel deals.Sometimes we get gud deals but many times it is not so.
One more thing, for us the weather is also v v important. We always check to see if the weather is gud.

Hi marrgg,

Thanks for your vote !

Yes, I agree that money and time are the main criteria for planning any vacation.

We do have to consider a lot of things when we have kids, and make sure their routine is not upset. Yes, children become our priority all the time.

Cheers

Dear Sunitha,

Thanks for the appreciation !

Yes, being the season for travel, guess I thought this thread will be a good fit here !

I agree with you on all the points.

We have also travelled with other families on long trips, but we did rent a big van so that all of us could be together. We also carried many snacks, drinks and non perishable items like bread, some veggies in coolers etc to make sandwich.

We even bought some milk on the way, took cereal from home to have breakfast.

Nowadays, I feel, I also need a change and stopped cooking at the hotels. So we just carry the basic items like snacks, drinks and water. Mostly we prefer eating out when we go on vacation. If it is a long drive, probably I will pack some food items like idlis and rice items so that we don't need to make a stop for food immediately.

Yes, we do need to take into consideration a lot of these factors when we plan for a trip.

Thanks for voting here Sunitha !

Cheers
Krithika

Dear Krithi,

I saw the poll options before I read your leading post of this thread and voted for 'others'.

Personally, I feel that there should be a mental satisfaction in enjoying a vacation. For this, we can find out the choices of those who are travelling together. With regard to me, for example, going to disney world was of no impact. Because I'm not at all interested in rides and stuff like that. I love nature, a pleasant stay, a long and peaceful drive(how about a drive whithout any hassels in a very good road, with good meals in different places, a visit to a close friend's house on the way, with Raja, Rahman, SPB and Janaki) etc. At the sametime, most of the people love themeparks. So, a vacation planned to cover almost all the choices would make a great vacation.

Poll said group and individual travel. When I read your post I thought you might have meant the same what I said by group and individual preferences.

Dear Oviya,

Absolutely agree with your way of thinking and planning !

From what you have posted, I understand that your idea of vacation is to enjoy in calm, peace and with nature. So you enjoy the beautiful ride/journey before reaching the destination. So, I guess, you must love the mountains sides, nature parks, lakes, waterfalls etc.

Long back, I read this at the back of a vehicle, "Half the fun is in getting there" !

Yes, that is very true.

As for poll, the options of individual travel or group travel, I meant whether the preference is for travelling as a single family or a group of friends/families together.

To each his own. We have tried both ways, and it works out just fine.

Thanks for your vote !

Cheers
Krithika
