Beware of e-ticketing

Recently I bought tickets through IRCTC e-ticketing service wherein I have been issued electronic reservation slip. On going through the important instructions contained in it, it is shocking and even absurd to note that "If the name of the passenger does not appear on the chart the passenger should not board the train as he/she will be treated asa apassenger without ticket and dealt accordingly." In fact you pay more for getting this e-ticket and if the name does not appear how you can be held responsible and taken to task?
We only pray that such things should not happen to us on the day of travel. Unable to understand the logic behind this condition.

Oh ok that is really sad to know I always buy e-ticket but never had problem any time but still it is better to be careful next time and make sure our names appear and confirm a day before the travel.

How can we confirm one day before since the chart is pasted only at the time of travel and not displayed anywhere before?

I too get tickets through e mail. Booking with IRCTC on line. But how can we know that our name is included in the chart? Sometimes i rushes to the last minute and sit in the approprate seat without have a look at the chart.
Now I think it is better to have a look at the chart before boarding.

you need to call the airline by which you will be travelling. In case you have booked your e-ticket for Jet airway then you need to call them 24 hrs before and ask them, and confirm with them about your booking. You need to give them e-ticket number and your name.

If iam correct, the IRCTC is for Indian railway booking.

I have no idea about the railway bookings. I have not travelled by rail for many many years..........hehehehehehe
But i do know there is online booking done for railway and here to you can call and confirm about your ticket. Becoz one of my SIL books this way and she confirms it on phone.
