The Need for a Travel Medical Kit

Your baggage must contain a travel medical kit, no matter where and why you travel. Foremost, the medicines that you use regularly may not be available in other places/countries. Having a basic medical kit helps you TO manage medical conditions during the duration of the trip. It can prevent illness and heal minor infections/accidents in case of an emergency. It is worth to check with you doctor the items that you should keep based on your health conditions to keep your travel safe and healthy.

Allergies : Antihistamines for insect bites, stings or allergies
Constipation: Laxatives to treat acute constipation
Diarrhea: Oral hydrating solutions for re-hydration
Heartburn: Antacid for acidity and heartburn
Infections: Antiseptic ointment, cream, antibiotics. You should always consult a doctor before taking antibiotics
Motion Sickness: Antihistamine tablets to prevent discomfort caused by motion sickness in the air, road or at sea.
Pain: Analgesic medicines such as Paracetamol or aspirin for pain relief from toothache, muscle pain or menstrual pain
Sores: Antiseptic wipes, bandages and plasters
Suntan : Sunscreen with high SPF, Aloe-vera gel, a natural remedy to reduce sunburns
Thermometer: Digital or manual thermometer to check temperature
Wound Dressings: Bandage, scissors, tweezers, gauze strip, adhesive tape

Cold/flu tablets, throat lozenges to fight sore throat and viral infections

Medicines and equipments that you use regularly such as syringes and needles.

Eye lubricant drops, ear plugs, mosquito repellant cream and net to keep away mosquitoes

Check instructions, dosage and bring sufficient medication that lasts the entire trip. Keep all prescribed and non-prescription medicine separately with correct labels.

What are some of the essential medical supplies that you generally carry when you travel?
