Jharkhand - Tourist Delight

Jharkhand is situated on the Chhotanagpur Plateau and is know for its wild life, waterfalls and National Parks. One of the three newly found states of India, the extremely mineral-rich state of Jharkhand has the potential to be the economic powerhouse of India.

Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand is a picturesque hill station still full of old world colonial charm. It is of special interest to those who are interested in anthropology for the Tribal Research Institute and museum is located here.

On the out skirts of Ranchi lies the famous Tagore Hill, the Kanke Dam, the Betla national Park at Palamau, the Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary is another important site, Netarhat is a beautiful sunset and sunrise point , Rajrappa is famous for Ma Chhina Mastika temple, Parasnath – the highest hill in Jharkhand, Deoghar or Baidyanathdham is the most important Hindu pilgrimage site for the people of Jharkhand as well as Bihar. Lakhs of pilgrims visit this place on foot traveling for around 100 km during the month of Shravan to pay their reverence to Lord Shiva.

Jamshedpur is 120km from Ranchi. Jamshedpur is famous for Tata Steel. Asia’s first and India’s largest private sector steel company. Tata Steel completes a century next year.

The company has contributed immensely to the city of Jamshedpur by providing civic amenities, top class infrastructure etc.

Jamshedpur is a cosmopolitan city, so we enjoy all festivals here.

Last but not the least I would like to mention that Captain of Indian cricket M S Dhoni is from Ranchi, Prinkya Chopra, Tanushree Dutta and Madhavan all are from Jamshedpur.

Jamshedpur is a clean city, green city and steel city.

Thanx for the info on Jharkhand...I had read about MS Dhoni and Madhavan, that they are from that state.

I grew up in the neighbouring Chattisgarh(that time a part of Madhya Pradesh) for about five yrs. And then moved to Orissa for 7 yrs. So I have a special feeling for those area.

I never knew there were so many tourist attractions in Jharkand. Thanks for letting us know. The media only focuses on the law and order situation there (formerly Bihar). Must plan a trip sometime.
