Default Discover India - Visit the breathtaking Papanasam

Papanasam dam is 42 km from Tirunelveli. The scenary along the way is jus mind blowing. A boat ride through the Tamarapani River takes us to the water falls, jus a good pair of trekking shoes are a must to reach the falls through the woods & rocks climbing.

Hi Mythraeyi,

We too came across this Papanasam dam by accident. Actually we were planning to go to Coutrallam Falls and when our driver informed us that there is no water at that time and suggested us this place. It came as a real suprise and a wonderful one that too.

Hello Hina,

It was nice to see the post regarding Papanasam.

I have been to that place often after i moved to Tenkasi after marriage.

Courtallam falls, is just five km from my home there. Water is in full flow there mostly during the june-july, aug, sept months.
It is very windy during those months.
There are many other falls, like five-falls, old-courtallam falls etc.

The Agasthiar falls in Papanasam has water there round the year. And the height is much less than that of courtallam. so bathing there is much safer and pleasant there.

bye

Thumbs down Re: Discover India - Visit the breathtaking Papanasam

Hi Hina

Really breathtaking!! My husband would love this. Somehow you think of India as full of people!

We went to Katze dam in Lesotho in April. Its a massive deep dam through the mountains of Lesotho also amazing - you can "hear the silence". The electricty generated is for Lesotho and the water is pumped into South Africa.

Regards Neesha
