From Perumbavoor we were 8 members including myself for Kailash yatra.As I had good company I decided to join with them.This was decided all of sudden.I had desire to do kailash yatra but how I d'nt know.Chance came through my Ayurvedic Dr.Rajeev who arranged my inclusion with the yatra team.

The trip from Kerala Alwaye Railway station was 23 days.By flight 20 days.This holy yatra was conducted by ECO TREK INTERNATIONAL,KATMANDU.

Government of India,Ministry of external affairs also conducting the Kailash Manasarover Yatra.Govt. of India will publish an advertisement regarding Kailash yatra in news papers by the Ministry of External affairs.The Kailash yatra is conducted from May to October.Medical check up is essential and conducted by the Govt.Govt. of India's trip is more tough beacuse walking distance from Indian side is more.

From Nepal although most of the trip will be done in vehicle it is also important the participating person be in relatively good health.Health certificate [physical fitteness] by a doctor should be produced to the ECo trec along with the application.

So routine exercise like yoga,pranayamam,long walks,claimbing of stair cases is essential to increase stamina.

Altitude is major factor in Kailash yatra.We will reach altitude over 5700 M.This can have mild or severe effects on the body,no matter what your level of health.Symptoms on altitude sickness include headache,dizziness, nausea,loss of appetite and difficult in sleeping.The best way to prevent this is to stay extremely hydrated and consious of how your body is functioning.

Things to carry on the holy yatra are,back pack, warm synthetic or woolen pants,sweaters, thermal wear, rain coat, warm sacks, confortable water proof hiking boot,long sleeve shirts,warm gloves,sun glasses [100% UV protective \ sun screen lotion,thermo flask,torch, vidio/digital camera with extra battaries, wet and dry toilet papers, Dry fruits,choclates,snacks, mug,woolen cap,nose mask.

It is very important, you bring a well stocked personal medical kit.

In our team some of them went by train and some by flight so as to reach Delhi same day.Night stay at Birla manthir.Next day afternoon we boarded Kadmandu flight and reached Kadmandu in the evening.Eco trec International
authorities came to pick up our team.We got accomodation at holy himalaya hotel.Here 4 persons joined with our team.

We worshiped Pasupathi nath temple,some shoping done.Unfortunately on that evening 3 bomb blast ocurred in another area of Katmandu.So the road towards that side was closed.
Next day morning we were ready to go Everest trip.[charges seperate]
But due to bad weather and pouring heavy rain the flight was cancelled.In the night meeting was conducted by the eco trek.DVD on Kailash yatra showed.
Big bag,down jacket were supplied.We were instructed to transfer all our cloths to the big eco truck bag neatly packed in seperate covers so as to take one cover for one day use.12 to 16 embty cover required.We all given serial no.That no. is written in the bag during the night stay, they return our bag according to the sr.no.
Next day morning we started holy Kailash yatra to zhangmu 145 KM.we reached Lipping in the afternoon.This is Nepal border.The Nepale vehicles stopped here.
One bridge accorse Bhotikoshi rever,this side lipping another side is Tipet now Chinese border.After lunch in a hotel we convert our money into chinese currency.We should go chinese immigration offfice by walking for about 1 Km.Nepalese coolies will help us to carry our hand bags.
we reached chinese customs and immigration office.3 to 4 hours standing in the heavy rain we cleared the checking.Boarded 4 persons in each land crusier we started from there to zhangmu .The road follows the river passing through green mountains and so many waterfalls.
Due to heavy rain and road work we were forced to stay at Zhangmu for the night.Next day we proceeded to Nyalam 3750 m .We reached Nyalam.relaxed here for one day to acclimatize to the high altitude.Some of us were affected by vomitting,loose motion,headache,breathing problem even though medicine [tablet] was given every morning for the high altitude problems.We went shoping for the yatra.

Next day we went to Saga 4450M 7 to 8 hours drive.Stunning views of the Himalayas.The journey is more significant than detination.The driving is very tough.You are grilled and churned on your way in the rough muddy road to your final destination.You have to pass through trails and turbulations to reach thing you yearn for.Beautiful and divine sites were a grate gift.We cross Bhramaputhra river.Night stay was in Saga.From Saga to paryang 4550M 8 hours drive.
The land scope is highlighteted by snow capped peaks rising out of the distant sand duens which were formed by the Bramaputra river.On the way we crossed Tibetan nomads and traders in traditional dress.We driven through gigantic valleys, various rivers through grazing lands of yaks and sheeps.We saw deers also.Stayed Paryang.

Next day Paryang to Lake manasarover 4558M.From one point we can have first darsan of two equally megestic mountain tower over it on both the directions Gurla Mandhatha to south and Kailash to the North Manasarover in the middle alttitude 14950 feet.The lake created from the mind manas of Brahma himself.A dip in the holy lake is said to clense one's soul of all its misdeeds.Manasarovar is the birth place of four majesti rivers Brahmaputhra,Sutleg,Karali,and Indus.Manas water is sweet.

As Indian government team was also to start parigrama[circumbulation,kora] on the same day on our schedule we desided to save one day.hence we can bookhorse,yake and helpers early.We drove circumbulating Manasarover.On the way 500 feet down to manasa we saw another big lake Rakshastal.This lake is saltish.No fish or living things are in the Rakshastal.In purana Ravan,King of Lanka is said to have done penance in this region and his muscle power was even able to lift the Mt.Kailash.When Lord Siva applied pressure from the top with his toe Ravana's hands were pressed and to appease Shiva Ravana sang a hymn describing the splendour of Siva.The Rakshastal salty lake formed by the Ravana's sweatings when his hands caught under Kailash.The waves of Manas is gentle and Rakshatal has high roaring rough waves like ocean.The lakes are separate.However on rare occasions the swallen waters from Manas may flow into Rakshastal.When this happens it is considered to be aiuspicious event by Tibetians a blessing from heaven.By the grace of mother nature we have clear dharsan of Mt.Kailash Mt.Nandhi without rain,snow fall and clouds.It was said Mt.Kailash dharsan was not so clear in near future.In the evening we reached the Bank of Manasarover.
