Dear Aarushi, Poonam, Roopa, Malspie,

Blondie started a thread on "Batkamma Photos" in our site. If anyone searches in Google for "Batkamma Photos", our site shows up as #4 in the listings. Lots of Telugu ladies searched in Google for "Batkamma Photos", clicked on our link and landed in our site.

Similarly, we should try and create discussions around several of these North Indian keywords (similar to "Batkamma" above) and make sure that we have that keyword in the thread title. From Aarushi's message, I think that there is an opportunity to create discussions focussed around these:

Dwarpooja
Baraat
Lehengas
Varmala
Teej
Karwa Chauth
Chatt

When starting threads, please remember to put the above keywords in the thread title:)

Thanks everyone for your help!

Thanks for the tip Jey!! Will think of some marriage and festival related threads..one question - if we are talking of wedding lehengas, can we copy and post some photograph from the net as an example? or would it be a copyright issue??

Regards,
Aarushi

I find this a very welcoming idea. There is not much written about N India, its rich culture and about its festivities.
It was interesting to read what Aarushi wrote about some of the customs. Aarushi, you are right, now a days, because of the TV and films, barath and sangeeth are taking very prominent place even in the S Indian weddings!
I am also fascinated to read about our Indians settled in S Africa. Neesha, please do give us more insight in to the way how you all celebrate festivities. Due to the intermingling of Indians, I am sure you have evolved your own take on the original customs.
I was in Bali some years back and was fascinated to note how different Hinduism practiced there is!
To know various customs, rituals and festivities will make us richer.
And welcome both to Roopa and Poonam! All the best girls!!

L, Kamla

Aarushi,

It depends on the copyright policy of the site that you are taking the photograph from. Please see our detailed instructions in this FAQ. If the site owner writes to us, we can take it down within 48 hours, which is consistent with the copyright policy.

Malathy

Hiya Ladies,

Stumbled on this page while hunting for some info....Nice to know there is a place for people like us (from the west) to put in deatils of our rich culture.

I will try & put in some inputs of various festivals celebrated "Down under" by the various Associations.

Cheers,

Corallux

Hello Jaishree(9),

Thank you for the mouth-watering Rajasthani Recipes that you are posting in the Regional Recipes forum. I'm sure there will be lot of takers in our community for the same.

Glad to know that you are from a traditional state in the North West of India. It will be very informative and useful if you can also post about Rajasthani customs, weddings, specials festivals celebrated there, about historical places within Rajasthan and other unique traditions being followed there in various forums like Indian Weddings, Travel and in sub-forum local to India.

Postings on the above will help to get more North Indian members join our community and discuss on various other topics specific to North India.

Look forward to more postings about Rajasthan from you. Thank you.
