| | Dear IL family, Flora contest….. quite interesting contest……………………….. Thanks for giving me a chance to remember about my first rose day in my college life………. All the feeling are from deep inside….hope you will support me with your valuable comments…. About 4 years back, We had the Rose day celebration combined with annual tie day, sari day in our college. Each one of us were in great mood of celebrating the day in a grand way. I must say that almost everyone came dressed in the best possible way. We, the girls had wored beautiful sarees with Fascinating colours, embroidery, kanchivaram silk, bandhini etc….. looking radiant best. The guys were all looking like managers wearing formal shirit, tie and looking great.Even each one of our eyes will tell to turn around when they are nearing you………. Next up was probably the main event of the day. That is the great Rose day celebration. The roses were sold outside the auditorium. Everyone went and purchased so many roses and were distributed and dedications were read out in the respective classes. Some of the best dedications were read out in the auditorium There were some really great messages from the guys to the gals and vice versa. That's the fun in having all these days, right? There were some really nasty messages well. But, I do hope that the genuine messages are taken in the spirit of the rose day celebrations and strike the right chord in the hearts of the recepients. After all words speak much more than actions. While I could see huge excitement on many faces and also some heart broken faces. I guess that's life. Yes I know, it is easy to say…… But getting success in love is also a kind of art……………………… Personally, it turned out to be a great and important day for me. Getting 7 roses was a first one for me. Two of them were anonymous dedications. Well,I guess someone's keeping a close watch on me .It feels great to be noticed by someone unknown. There were some really great dedications from some of my close friends. Thanks a lot people.I guess its all about the thoughts and good wishes.. First time I got a rose from a boy. A count of 7 is not bad for a beginner. For the first time I saw this really handsome boy in First year. I didn't know that such a handsome and innocent face existed in the college. He just came over to me and gave me a rose. He felt very much happy that I have agreed to come and take a few snaps inspite of all his friends screaming and hooting. That was the first person whom I met in the college and who was the first to gave me rose in the college day…….Gr8 spirit.I just feel that I missed out on some gr8 rose day celebrations in the last 4 years. But, what the heck. It's better late than never. So what are you waiting for?????????? What is ur experience in ur college days? Put down ur valuable words as What was ur first flower……who has given you…………ur special person or someone else Or to whom you gave the first flower in your life……………..

| | re: Flora2000 Contest for October '09 Any celebration is incomplete without flowers.Flowers are an intergral part of the celebration. So, we rely on flowers or flower bouquets to make the occasion even more special. Have you received any flowers from your beloved ones? My answer to this question is NO. My relatives and friends wish me on every occasion and gift me at times but all that i always expect is one single flower. So i never received any flowers on any occasions from anyone including my husband. Well, there was one time i did receive a flower but not from a beloved one - when me and my daughter were returning to dubai by the our first Thai Airways flight, asusual we were fighting for the corner seat.It is always me who wins but on that day i let her have the corner seat. While the Thai Airways service personnel were giving orchid flowers to passengers to pin to their shirt or coat,i was the last and the lucky passenger to receive the flower. My daughter who was sitting next to me didnt receive one. This sort of flower is one of Thailand's most common flowers, the mundane purple or violet orchid.Till we reached home i carefully held this cute little flower with my hands and asked my daughter to carry all the luggages(i know so bad of me to do this).I was beyond myself with joy as it was my very first time i had touched an orchid flower. After reaching home i safely kept my flower in the refridgerator. To my surprise even after 3 months my flower was as fresh as i had got it. Suddenly i had to go back to Chennai to visit my mother who was hospitalized.Unfortunately i lost her. When we returned to dubai ,the flower was not there –it had dried up so my husband had thrown it away. My eyes were filled with tears. Then it struck me –like flowers people live and wither away, leaving the fragrance of their sweet memories with us. Still i am waiting .........a flower from a beloved one. P.S.-After going through this contest ,it struck me that even my beloved ones would also be expecting a single flower from me. |

| | Re: Flora2000 Contest for October '09 Love is to give without expectations. But still everyone has expectations. Every girl dreams of gifts from her love. I too had lot of dreams. Here is my story where I couldn’t get what I dreamt of, though it was right in front of me. Ours was an arranged marriage. To be frank, my hubby is very shy in expressing his love. That too, when others are around, he is discreet . But of course he is filled with loads of love .It was the first time after marriage that I had to go to hometown without my hubby for a week. We missed each other a lot. To my surprise, my hubby had bought me a gift and kept at home ...the first gift from him... (Wow...I was jumping with joy when he told me in phone...). When I returned , he told me to find out the gift myself. That’s where everything started. I ran my eyes over the room with thrill inside. But before I could spot it, my mother-in-law saw it casually. It was a lovely handbag - exactly matching to my taste. She did not know anything about our gift. But...the funny part was that my mother-in-law had been wishing for a handbag herself. She was very excited and said "It is lovely,Arun. Very kind of u to get this for me." You know what my hubby did...(I have seen it only in movies.). He was speechless and looked at me sadly and just nodded to his mom. I couldn't stop my laughter at his sight. (They say paal vadiyum mugam. ) Somehow managing my giggles, I went to my mother-in-law and told her that it was lovely. Back in my room, though I felt bad that I lost my gift, the first gift bought by my love, I can never forget the smile that came across my mother-in-law when she saw the bag. The exciting part is when my mother-in-law came to know about this at a later stage she was very much touched. I became the queen of her hearts. She always holds me close to her heart...even now... When I see the bag now, I feel that I missed the first gift. But soon the whole episode comes to my mind, and also a smile on my face. And of course, it has given me the love of his mother, the most precious one.
