"Love of Food" Contest - June 2009

Dear ILites,

"There is no love sincerer than the love of food." ~George Bernard Shaw.

Dazzle your fellow ILites with a candied rosebud on a lemon cheese cake, a delicate tomato rose on top of your hyderabadi briyani, eye catching and colorful carrot flower sitting demurely in your salad bowl, Strawberry jelly with fresh whipped cream served elegantly in your tarts.

Wondering what all this description is about.... but I guess reading this definitely your stomach enzymes must be working over time. Bring these words in to a virtual treat for all of us to enjoy.

Here I go with announcing the contest....

The contest for this month June 2009 is

Love for Food Contest

How to Participate in this Contest ?

Follow these simple steps:

• Prepare your favorite dish
• Do a make up session for your dish - Garnish it attractively
• Click it in your shutterbugs - Take a photo of the dish
• Post it in the Virtual Feast thread

Contest starts on June 10th 2009

Contest ends on June 25th 2009


Points to note:

• The dish should be prepared by you ( not necessarily your own recipe) and should be well garnished by you.
• No photos from the internet will qualify for the contest.
• An ILite can post a maximum of 3 entries.
• Entries should be posted only in the Virtual Feast thread.
• Best presented dish will be selected by the panel of Judges.
• Entries posted in the Virtual Feast thread during the contest period - June 10th to June 25th will only be considered for the contest.

Last but not the least this contest is not for judging your culinary skill or how your recipe is elaborately0 prepared. Rather the contest is all about judging your garnishing skill and your photographic skill, ensuring the perfect lighting on your dish.

Hope you all had a great weekend.
Now am back here in this thread with the winner announcement......

Before the winner announcement, a curtain raiser on the judgment process.
We would want to thank all the ILites for their amazing response to the contest, we had 36 ILites participating in the contest with some of them posting up to three entries.
Indeed it gave some sleepless nights to the Judges who had a tough time looking ( read as drooling) at all the recipes / dishes and come to a conclusion.

First I would want to thank Kamla and Traveller ( Latha ) for accepting to judge the contest entries and coming up with their choice of winners. From there it was easier to narrow down the final winner.

Am sure you are all eager to know the results, with no further delay, here it is......

The entry had a winning edge for three reasons, the perfect paltter of lunch in attractive banana leaf, perfect photographic angles and the colors of cucumber, aviyal, potato fry everything came out way perfect and clicnched the title.

Congrats Dr.Preethi for winning the contest and by winning this contest, you have proved yourself to be a great foodie.

Yes you all guessed right...

We perfectly understand the efforts that goes into these entries, preparing the dishes sweating it out in the kitchen, spend some more time on the dining table garnishing the dishes and making it up cute for the shutterbugs and then even more time to capture the entries in the perfect angle with perfect lighting. So we want to appreciate the efforts and would want to announce another winner for the category - Desserts

This is the second time I have won in IL contest regarding Food.
First time was in March 2008 Contest ( Besan Cooking) conducted by our ''Kitchen Queen'' Chitvish maam..
