It was a real feast to the eyes seeing all the kolu arrangements. Congratulations to all for setting up such a beautiful colourful arrangement. Think the judges are going to have a tough time choosing the winners.

I kept the kolu at our home with my 2 year olds toys. I think it is an innovative way to use our kids toys.

Below are my golu pictures.

This is the first time I have kept golu. I live in Melbourne , Australia and it was difficult to get bommais in this part of the world and the ones I have had to be shipped from India (My amma sent them!)! I have always loved Navaratri as a child and this is when I got an opportunity to keep golu in our house. The Golu stand was made by my husband just 4 weeks ago for Navaratri. After the golu the stand can be used as a decorative piece anywhere in the house. The umbrella for Varalakshmi face was handpainted by me.

On left hand side of the golu is a pullaiyar decorated with leaves which is the first bommai I got from my Paati (She has been keeping golu for years now) On the right hand side is a miniature model of our home and our work places that I have cut out.

I would have loved to post more pictures of the golu, if not for the 5 photo restriction for the competition.

My personal favourite photo is the one where Aandal looks at herself in the mirror.

1st Step- Saraswathi, Annapoorani, Lakshmi along with Astalakshmi
2nd Step - Guhan with Ramar & Ramar Pattabishekam
3rd Step - dasa-avatharam
4th Step - Krishna Leela / Guruvayurappan /Meenakshi
5th Step - Jodi sets gifted for our wedding
Other than that , We had a seperate collections of Lord Krishna in side of our regular Padi .
A little town with parks/zoo/exhibition/hill-temple/ a small village

I am a new IL member from Chennai (M/O 4 yr old boy and 8 month old twin girls). I have been following the “Festivals” Forum for a few weeks now and would like to specially thank all the creative IL-ites out there for providing virtual inspiration and encouragement. Have attached 4 pictures of my first Golu with most of the description on the picture itself.

Deepa - lighting arrangement is good and ur golu is neat and beautiful.

Savitha Mathur _ WOW!! different and beautiful to see the Lotus lakshmi. Lighting effect is simply good. I like the kolam u have put around the golu padis.
