Iam late here in replying......bu onlu now i saw this thread......
My Heartiest wishes and Blessings for you son.........May GOD shower him with ALL HIS BLESSINGS.....
I can understand your problem.and many of us have come acrross that....my son is pre term and prenmature baby...so no breast feed......ight from the day one...we sponfeed him.yes......my doctor advised me no to use bottle that may cause severe infections ......and after a period of time......we start giving him with sippers.or stainless steel tumblers which are very easy to clean......thats most important.........so you plan your diet accordingly so that.he dont feel like drinking in between.....you try to give him milk before you go to bed......and if he still feel hungry.then you try to give in statinless steel facny tumblers or beatuful TUPPERWARE cups....( 100% SAFE PLASTIC) .try to have 3 to 4 variety cups FANCY TUMBLERS....with cartoon pictures in it.....or his favourite pictures....tempt him with all these......and its really advisable to stop feeding him with the bottles......
Thank you so much.... this is the 5th day with out bottle..... by the advice and ideas of IL friends i managed to stop the bottle.... now my son is not asking for the bottle... he is happy with the tumbler..... he saw a kid feeding in the bottle yesterday...he went near to that kid and told him bottle is not good and to throw the bottle in garbage... i became so happy hearing that....
Happy (belated) birthday wishes, dear Krishna! Hope you had lots of fun with friends... so what did amma make for you??
Lakshmy I'm sooo glad that it worked fast with Krishna. Kids are smart, aren't they! I realise that most of the times it's us parents who hesitate to implement things. And it is good that he directly went to tumbler. My boy still drinks from sippy cup and i'm trying hard to change it. But for my second one (she's one month old) i decided to stop bottle before she turns 2! as of now she's on mother's milk but whenever that happens i'll not repeat the mistake:)
Hi latha,
congrats !!! so you got both boy and girl.... give him mother's milk as long as possible yaar.. it will give him good resistance power... my first son i feed him upto 2 years old.... for him also for stoping that i struggled.... at last neem oil helped me... second one stopped himself when he is 6 months...
ya for krishna it worked fast... i was in great tension.... one more advantage in that.. i stopped diapers as he is not drinking lot of milk in night.....
yes Lakshmy... first one is a boy (he's 3 yrs as i mentioned) and now a girl. We are both really happy. I have a younger brother and have always longed for a elder one:) For aniish he was on breast milk until 15 months and then he himself stopped and switched over to formula milk for few months then gradually cow's milk. for my daughter too i hope it's like that. Luckily with my boy weaning wasn't a problem at all. Infact anything that i want to change with him isn't a huge struggle provided i handle the change tactfully. Even taking off diapers happened so fast after little trouble. He himself refused to wear at night and he doesn't pee in the bed. also 2-3 hrs travel we have managed well without diaper. I always feared about wetting the bed having seen so many accidents with my cousins, my brother etc., thank God.. that tension is off my head:)
I have a 19 month old daughter who still insists on drinking from her bottle. When I offer the sippy cup, she starts throwing a tantrum and screams and cries and will quietens down only if she gets the bottle. I would very much like to wean her off the milk bottle.
Please advise on strategies to wean off the bottle and share experiences (so that I know I am not alone).
