Teaching slokas and Moral Stories for Toddlers

Hi all..

I would like to teach my son simple slokas and tell him moral stories.He does not show interest in that..When I sing some sloka..he looks confused and changes to some other activity..

He likes to listen to stories from books..but saying moral stroies ,historic stories is challenging.

Please do share your ideas and experience in this.All are welcome to reply.

I teach my kid (4yrs) slokas when we r in pooja room, he likes to light agarbathi , so at that time i make him repeat slokas what iam chanting...when we r on drive tooo i tell my hubby to chant same slokas, my son will remember what i taught him and try to chant the same...

but it will take lot of time n patience to teach them...

one more idea...copy all slokas in CD n play in ur car every time u go out, if he listens more n more times he will get it...

Nice idea..I have seen in kids corner(IL) and many videos in Youtube..where kids recite slokas at very young age..Its very nice to see that.

Dont lose your heart, definitely he will get interest very soon and listen to you , but keep trying, start with simple slokas first, and make him to chant with you daily during your prayer time, moral stories are available in CD's and also in the net , even our IL friend has given some wonderful site with the heading SLOKAS FOR KIDS and its excellent with pictures and music , so he may get attaract to that kind , so try that ,kids now-a-days get closer to CD's than books what to do, elders used to say " Vakula varadha pillaiya pokula vittu than pidikanum " , got me.........so keep trying

slokas for kids

Hi Supriya,
We are in very early stage.We have just crossed the stage of identifying the names of God. I have currently started to sing Paalum thelithenum .She has grabbed last 3 words Sanga Thamizh mundram thaa..So I think it will take some time for us to get to Sanskrit Slokas.
GoodLuck.I'm sure your little one is going to recite slokas soon.
