Default Reading numbers in reverse order!!!!

Hi Dear Ladies,

This is my first post over here. Actually this is regarding my 3and half year niece. Mysister has started teaching her numbers and how to read the letters in words.

She reads well some times while mysister accompanies her, when she is asked to read the numbers in board, she tries to read in reverse order.

Eg: 29 she reads first 9and then says2. Same with letters, but this is rarely.

Is it normal? Do share your ideas and experience dear ladies.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gokusha,

sometimes kids that do do that. It is the consistency and repeated teaching that will bring her out it. Always emphasise and say read from left to right orally, she will pick up in a month or two. So if she is slipping, let your sister read and pay attention to her consistently she will get it, that I am sure of. Once she understands to associate sounds with letters, it will become easier for her. For ex.she might be reading word apple backwords in her mind, she must be just associating picture with the word but not the sound of letters she is producing .....she is not thinking like A...P...P....L....E So let your associate letters with sounds instead of just pictures. all said and done, she is still small and she will figure it out sooner or later.
