    Dear Mommies

Have any of you experienced recurring ear infections in your kids? Did your kid need tubes? Please share your experiences. Has anyone tried natural cures like garlic oil for ear infections?

My toddler has been getting many ear infections recently and we soon need to see an ENT specialist for that. Thought I might check with you all.

    Hi,
One suggestion I can give u - when you give head bath for your kid
You can clean the ears with ear buds to remove the moisture from ears.
You have to do this immediately after the head bath, thereby you can
    avoid future ear infections.
Second suggestion -- When you are feeding the milk, make sure the head
is held up right not down side, thereby you can avoid the liquid from entering
    the ear channel.

Thanks Vidya, I will surely try that. Regarding milk, I don't think thats the problem since he is out of bottles.

    Hi Saroj,

My son had the same problem. The doc put him on antibiotics. The fluid iin his middle ear was not draining and the docs told me this would affect hearing. One of my friends got ear tubes inserted for his daughter because of recurrent ear infection and he told me that once it was done it made a huge difference. It is a safe and frequently done surgery.

    Thanks,
    Kavya

Thanks a lot for your reply. DH & I are getting very concerned abt this. The antibiotics dont seem to be working well on my baby for some reason. We are guessing that the ENT doc might suggest tubes. Hearing from experienced parents is making me relax a bit.

    Thanks
    Saroj

    Hi Saroj,

We had the same problem with our kid, atleast one ear infection every month. One time even it got reinfected when i forgot his antibiotic just one day. We were asking the doctors for tube insertion but the docs were saying like lets wait till the summer and see how he does. Now for the past 2 months he seems to do fine without any ear infections but of course with other infections as he is in day care.

things i do when he is having ear infections

won't send him to daycare if he's having cold even for a week(as they can't pay invidual attention to the kid) and will give him lot of fluids and fruits without refrigrating as i think it won't becum a phlum with lot of fluids. after headbath on normal days will wipe the ears and got some medicine to remove wax from ears no buds for him.

Don't worry we won't have all these troubles once their immune system is strong. Take good care and be patient till that time.

    Regards,
    Alamu
